I wondered where the channel had gone the other day when I was trying to find it... it wasnt on my list any where so I went to the website today and in my disgust:

UKTV, the joint venture between BBC Worldwide and Flextech Television, closed PLAY uk, its music and comedy channel, at midnight on Monday 30th September 2002. PLAY uk was one of the channels that make up the UKTV Network. The decision to close the channel came in response to the demise of ITV Digital.
Many of PLAY’s popular comedy programmes such as The Office, The Fast Show and Shooting Stars, now appear on UKTV’s flagship channel UK Gold.

All other UKTV channels, which include UK Style, UK Horizons, UK Drama and UK Food, will remain unaffected.



This dissapeared without much announcement and why? It was such a good tv station...

I think that people that lose channels have too many! I have 4, get that? 4! & I'm quite happy! Even if Nablo might go on about it, BBC beats Sky every time hands down, & I can say that coz I've tried it! The only thing I miss is watching Brighton & Hove Albion matches!

There's nothing wrong with a bit of the BBC you get some quality programs on it. It's only BBC 2 that seems to get everything late and now Channel 4. You catch up with us Sky viewers a few months later

i wouldnt mind loosing half the channels - they're mostly crap but I liked Play UK - it was my favorite music channel and had good comedies on it. Where am I gonna watch "People Like Us" now?

Did you know that channel 5 have just got the go ahead to stay a terrestrial channel for another 10 years! Not that I care, I can't get it where I live. Pity me please... p.s. That gives Moyles another ten years to get the sack

Coz it aint live is it? It should say 'Repeated with C M', also it would avoid a suing, not that we'd mind if Channel 5 went bust!

God darn! I almost cut short a night out to watch the late night repeat of Moyles last night, it's a good job I didn't.

Did I miss anything worth watching?

How do we know? It wasn't on was it!

The late night repeat is a repeat (ie. an exact copy) of the show earlier in the day hence the term 'repeat'. I missed the early edition so nearly went home early to watch the repeat, but since the repeat wasn't on it's a good job I didn't.
