I keep thinking about various periods in history and coming to the conclusion that being able to enjoy life in any of them would be completely dependant on being part of the privileged classes. Apart from now-ish, unless you were born into the upper classes or had made a ton of money from some business or another, life was pretty sh*t really. And I'm not, so I can't decide......

I'd love to travel to some point in the future when we (hopefully) know far more about ourselves as a species and our surroundings (i.e., this planet and further.)

It depends whether you judge things by material wealth Yudster. I'm sure there were a lot of people led happy simple lives with lots of money.

I'm quite happy with when I am but I'd quite like to live somewhere else in the North West.

If i could go back i would love to go back to the 1940s, dont know why just looks like an amazing time...and all those lovely American GI looking for some english rose to have a good time with.....and then i could grow up into the 1950s husband house kids, in a small town where everyone knows everyone, local pub all the little shops you get your food from...no tesco no asda, Country Fairs and Church Parties...

God Damn Born and Bread Filling my head with crazy dreams on a sunday night, getting my hair dired ready for school the next day...and then i would watch heartbeat...

Or i would like to into the future and buy all the DVDs of shows i love . so i dont have to wait and find out what happeneds.

And maybe find i a time where plastic surgery is cheap and fast and safe....so shallow

Lottie, I liked '98 and '99, too...that sounds good. I agree w/Yudster though. I should come up w/some great time period (mid-1200s for instance) to go back to but unless you had a fair amount of money, things could really be difficult. It'd be fascinating to experience the medieval life for a few hours & then leave before some disease that has since been eradicated takes hold!

There are so many things I'd like to go back and see; starting with early humans and neanderthal man, Romans, Saxons and early formation of the British Empire from smaller settlements, the Norman Conquest... ancient civilisations are fascinating, but also up to the Great Fire (from a distance, obviously), the celebrations after the World War II, the Nuremberg trials. I'd love to take a modern invention with my like a car or something to see their faces when they see such a weird contraption, though I'd probably be burned at the stake for witchcraft, so perhaps that's not a great idea.

I'd still like to go into the future as well though, for the reasons I stated before.

Kendra -- I think the middle ages do sound the best but definitely NOT a nun. Too restrictive. I was thinking a Countess or someone that has money so at least you don't have to wonder where your next meal is coming from.

Sunny so cal is right about 70's clothes, they may have looked fun and colourful, but they were itchy and ill-fitting, and way more expensive too, (keeping the cost/earnings ratio in mind). And to be honest, nowhere near as much choice as today.

I would only venture back in time if I had a protective bubble, as an observer or something.
Wouldn't it be great to go back to a time before modern technology with a calculator, or even a biro, well, fun until they decided you were some sort of demon, and threw rocks at you/burnt you alive/ cut off your head/......

And as for the future, that thought is quite scary too!
