I have to get this off my chest!

Am I alone in this, or is this Greg James guy not that good?

He may improve, but so far I think his communication with listeners isn't that great, and I find his voice quite monotonous and boring.

This morning, he told a story on Early Brekkie which he had already told yesterday!! Once is enough, eh? And it wasn't that interesting to start with.....

I think he's at a disadvantage because he is on his own - when Radio 1 was all about the music, the personality of the presenter was secondary. These days the DJ is the draw to any show (because after all, the music is the same whoever you're listening to in the daytime), and personality can be drawn out and demonstrated much more easily in conversation. I think Nihal suffers from the same issue - he also would probably be much better with a co-presenter to bounce off, then he wouldn't sound so much like he was reading his show rather than presenting it. Greg is better than Nihal though, and so far I quite like him - although I agree, he shouldn't be repeating his material this early in his career!

woo hoo - a reply!! thank you!! I actually like Nihal tho' personally - I find him to be quite a warm personality, who doesn't suffer from presenting alone!

Nihal always sounds incredibly tense and nervous, lots of awkward pauses, stumbling over what is supposed to sound like chat but ends up sounding like a shopping list being read out - but I really think all he needs is someone to bounce off and he's be fine. Greg seems more relaxed already, less like a rabbit in the headlights - I think he'll be good, and I'm looking forward to hearing how the handover with Moyles goes at 6.30.

I find him (Nihal) very relaxed! Hmmm... amazing how people's views are so different, yuds!

As to the handover.... I doubt Moyles will even be in the building at 0630 hours!

Going by what I've heard oh him so far, he is devoid of any personality and boring. I take it he came from student radio or something, you could never tell...

he's not too bad, I listen from 6 onwards.
I'm hoping that he'll start to make it his own show, dump all the Jk & joel stuff, like that nonsense where a caller chooses a song, and put his own stamp on it.
At the moment he's a bit like a temp, just mimicking the old show.

I also agree with Yudster, that he's at a disadvantage being on his own.
