Do you ever get the feeling that you have missed out on something in life, but you're not too sure what? No? Well, if this thread takes off, then you might by the end of it.

Basically, what hidden gems are out there? I'm initially thinking Films, Books, CDs, Games etc that are maybe not popular / well known but are worth having a look at. It could be anything at all though - places you have been on holiday maybe?

Places to go = Iceland. Fantastic. Naturally heated water and geysers. Paris: lively and a fantastic atmosphere.

Movies: "double life of veronika" (French/Polish) = deep stuff... check it out. :-)

Movie : "A Beautiful Mind" - check it out.

Movie: Mortal Thoughts.

I'd love to visit Iceland, viv - a large amount of nothing seems appealing to me somehow.

Dog Soldiers is a cracking film, topher - watched it again a couple of weeks ago.

Hard Men? 8O I didn't know you were into such films!

I knew I would get that sort of comment! It's a gangster film, it stars Mad Frankie Fraser.

Dog Soldiers is indeed cracking, but I have mentioned that a few times on here.

'The Cube' is a decent semi-horror, semi-scifi and completely underrated movie. Aspects of it are very Saw-like, you could imagine it being an inspiration for the Saw films.

Also, if you haven't seen it yet, Firefly and Serenity. A brilliant idea struck down, by the evil corporation that is Fox Broadcasting Company, far, far before its time.

I went to Iceland, there BBQ selection is excellent.

Also I missed the Toilet the other night, somehow I thought the white Bathroom Mat in front of the sink was the Basin, I have made a note to self to sit down when I get up in the middle of the night now.

Anyway, I do like Books

Lee Child is all action Military Crime
Harlen Cowen is Funny and well written
May contain traces of Nuts and a book by the same Author with a Gold Fish on the front is very good.
Nail Williams is an Irish Author whose Books are fantastic, Romantic, Magical, deep and touching, a modern day classic author in my opinion.

Children, everyone should raise some they are great things, and you will miss out if you don't.

There, from complete Pith to profound thoughts in one post

I assume that's not a typo and there actually is an author called that, but Mrs Topher likes Harlan Coben.

You clearly don't get a lot of excitement in your life.

For starters, it is NOT a vast amount of nothing!! There is loads going on: tours you can do; if you like swimming like me, it is great doing it in naturally heated water with snow falling over your head (I went there just before Xmas); shopping malls; nightlife!! etc., etc. Take your own food tho', because their stuff is very expensive, with the exception of vegs./fruit :-) They grow their own.

My mum wants to go to Iceland. Her other half would rather not go to a place where all you can see is mud and churches and it costs you £5 for a pint.

Specifically, Babettes Feast is a great film. In general, traditionally based Chinese film is also a great and underrated genre too. And try some Bollywood while you're at it, its a lot of fun.

Musically, have a listen to Ofra Hazar, a female singer from Yemen. She's great.

I've never been anywhere particularly unusal unless you count Finnish Lapland, which was simply wonderful, but stupidly expensive. I would very much like to go to Vancouver Island, and also to Alaska. Anyone been?

Why is everything turning into sex on this god damn board.

A book that i really liked, which most of you wouldn't, is Something Dangerous by Penny Vincenzi. Also P K Dick's short stories, i never got into that untill i did media studies, we had to read the stories before watching the films and if you have an imagination the stories are amazing.
