Nihal was discussing listeners' names on Brekkie yesterday - i.e. where their names originated from.

Where does your name originate from? Are you named after a character in a movie? A pop-star? etc., etc.

(I'm named after an actress who, I believe, wound up in a "looney bin"). Great, I don't think.

Elizabeth or Elisabeth is the Greek meaning of "my God is an oath" or "my God is abundance."

I dont know why my mother n' Father picked it

To see me suffer?

Yep, they can be cruel, but your name is hardly something to laugh at. Now, if you'd been a "Beatrice" (or something equally horrid), it would have been laughable.

My biology teacher always used to tell me my name didn't suit me! What he didn't realise was that out of Science/Maths classes, I was "full of life". Only when I was in science/maths classes did I want to die!!

I've always had people saying that my name sounds like something out of Victorian England. In some other countries, Clara doesn't seem such an unusual name - luck of the draw i suppose.

I am named because my mum liked the name.

Thank god my dad didn't get his way.

It's a good name, Morris. It conjures up images of chipy * moaning about the rationing during the Blitz.

charlalottie wrote:Shame really you weren't called that. With the descriptions you have given of yourself Morris Minor would have been a good nickname.

You're a bit slow on the uptake; that's been mentioned to me several times. In fact it's been lengthened to Morris Minor Pickup:

You're always 'ill' Miss Lalottie, you seem to fit the hypochondriac profile like a glove.

I bet, when the doctor sees your name written down as one of his patients for the day, he rolls his eyes; hell, I bet you're on first name terms with your doctor.

I can't remember the last time I was ill. Actually, that may be a lie, the last time I was properly ill was when I had chicken pox. That was when my brother was born (I know this because I wasn't allowed to go into hospital and see my mum and new brother at the time); my brother is now 18. I've had colds since then, but they don't count as proper illnesses. I can probably count on the fingers of one hand the number of times I've been to the doctors.

Nope, I wouldn't due to the fact that I've just said:

I'm on first name terms with my doctor, not so much because I am ill very often, more because she is a really good friend of mine and I've known her since she went out with my brother when they were both still at school.

I thought I was on first name terms with my doctor, Dr Allan, but it turns out it's his surname that is Allan..... I thought he was just informal.
