Okay. Admittedly I'd be a little biased but I really think Fame Academy has got off to a good start.

Yes, I know the singing was a little... raw, but then surely that's the point! If they could sing and perform perfectly on the first night what would the next 10 weeks be about?

The BBCi stuff is brilliant and now that the Big brother element of the programme has started it's really turning out to be quite fun.

It does run at the same time as Moyle's show on five but you can a) record one or the other or b) watch a repeat as BOTH have repeats later on in the evening. (or you could just get the FA update on moyles I suppose).

Give the series a chance - it's worth it.

arent people bored with reality tv shows. it shouts a lack of originality.

bargain hunt popular - we get flog it, boot sale challenge, everything must go
spice girls - we get all saints, vanilla, madasun, precious, atomic kitten
changing rooms - we get house invaders, diy sos, that one with vorderman etc

im sick of reality tv, give us a break. Its no wonder pop star the rivals is getting fewer ratings, people have grown tired.

plus i want Moyles to succeed with his Channel 5 show.

Thing about pop idol and pop stars, is they may all be irritating 'lovie' wannabees, but at least when it gets down to the public voting stages, those people have some talent.

The fame acadamy people seem to have no obvious talent (at least 95% of them) and its basically going to be a big brother with some karaoke, and after watching about 15 minutes of it, and catching some of the extra stuff on bbc choice, is dire.

Wouldn't consider watching this rubbish. From what you people are saying it sounds like more exhibitionists with no talent trying for their 15 minutes of fame. Hopefully people will just ignore these tedious little wannabes.

so from that review from Guardian, Moyles show has its best ever audience cos of Fame Academy being so crap. And to think I was worried about it stealing viewers, its making Moyles viewers. Long may it continue.

Why is this thread about 6 pages shorter that it was yesterday? The results of the poll don't look too impressive though.

Aled hasn't been on for a while, maybe Chris told him off for coming here.

I think you're confusing this thread with the "Why Aled?" thread, which is where most of the bickering's been carried out. - jc

bickering's- nah. just the fact that people didn't believe that the person was FAAled

just like popidol- not many people watched it from the start, but towards the end it was national must watch programme.

Only contact I've had with any of the let's-manufacture-a-chart-success programmes has been through Heat mag. I'm not likely to start watching Fame Academy, even if people guarantee everybody will be addicted by the end of the series. - jc

Just went to the BBC News website, and inadvertetdly saw a link that goes something like; ''Teacher Ashley booted out of Fame Academy''.
My 2 questions are...
1( Who's Ashley?
2( Who cares.
I think this sums up most people's views. And I think it's pathetic the way that the BBC are desperately ramming this down people's throats. I know, that obviously they have to promote it; but surely they must know that to ram something down people's throats can often be counter productive.

yeah Moyles benefited again if reports are to believed,
Fame Academy floundered at 3.6 on Thursday night whilst Moyles took his advantage with his first million plus audience for the show.

Everyone's getting the two shows confused.

Moyles is aimed at young "laddish" guys. Fame Academy is aimed at kids, girls and the older generation - exactly like Big Brother. The two can co-exist without knicking from each other.

On the whole lads don't watch TV especially the 7pm slot. So Chris started low and is going to grow as more and more lads know it's on, get into it and start changing their viewing habits. They're coming from Fame Academy or visa versa.

Fame Academy has started lower than expected but the facts shouldn't really suprise, as the audience it's attracting either aren't home yet or are watching Emmerdale. It will grow to big. It's had a bigger start than Big brother 3 did on it's first week and MUCH MUCH bigger than the first week of Big Brother Series 1.

Give it time to settle in and for the public to start getting attached to the characters and it'll improve.

(Plus hopefully BBC1 will come to their senses and move it back to 8pm as it was intended!)

had a load of mates round last night watching tv and getting drunk and stumbled across FA. with the alcohol fueled abuse being thrown at all the contestants i had no choice but to turn over. the general view was that we werent impressed by the level of talent at all. and nobody cared about the big brother parts of the show.

"Fame Academy is aimed at kids, girls and the older generation"

Older Generation have Emmerdale
Girls watch soaps too
If its aimed at Kids then why have singer songwriters, surely we all know that all kids want is pap like Gareth Gates and Blue.
Remember also that Channel 4 had big brother and Fame Academy is on BBC1 too. Thats the reason why its higher. Channel 4 highest show each week gets 4 million at best while BBC1 gets 13million. Plus Fame Academy has the advantage of having Eastenders before it.

Thanks for the Welsh Happy Birthday.
