Following on from a small discussion about the "Lottery" in another topic, has anyone actually won anything on the Lottery?

I have won only once, on my birthday, in fact, which was a nice surprise. It was only £10.00 though. :-)

My mum played for a couple of years and only once won £10. Now she spends her quid in the bookies on the football (I'm sure they all laugh when she goes in there amongst the hardened gamblers with her solitary pound.)

I have won with three or four numbers in a syndicate a few times before.

Never even won a tenner - don't play anymore, haven't for years and years!

Mamma Ballbag once got 5 balls. It was on a midweek draw though... She was soooo excited. But the winnings was only about £800.

(I say only, I know it's a lot of money, but the step up from 5 balls to 6 is massive).

Surely she has enough balls to deal with just having you in the house?

OUr lotto syndicate won on the hotpicks where you pick 4 numbers and must match all 4. We won £7500 but was split by a lot of people so ended up only getting about £150 each.

I won £94 for four balls in a rollover week once years and years ago - but I haven't played for about ten years now.

I picked up a deal or no deal scrathcard last nite becuase i thought what the hell, my luck couldn't get any worse and i won 5 times on the same scratchcard and won a total of £40 which ain't too bad. Keeps my pennies topped up until payday.

Why do people who buy scratchcards always seem determined to buy particular ones. Does it make a difference?

I think some have a greater chance of winning a lower prize, while others have a smaller chance of winning a larger prize, while the rest are in between.

The lottery seems really complicated these days. When I played it it was just pick six numbers, and the scratchcards were just - well, scratchcards. Now there are loads of different games with different numbers and obscure means of winning, and even if I wanted to play (which I don't) I don't think I'd have a clue how to go about it.

i must admit i don't usually purchase scratchcards, i just thought what the heck this time. The only reason i picked the deal or no deal one was because it was the first one i saw. I know what you mean though, there are so many different one's out there but doesn't seem to make a difference. Bit like fruit machines, so many different themes for them but at the end of the day, they take your money

I've noticed that as well... Branson should have had it anyway. But I still wouldn't play.

Pathetic past time for people with no work ethic and no brains. You won't win so stop doing it!!

It's a tax on the stupid so I'm not too bothered about it really.

In the shops where you see people scribbling their numbers down, its a handy tool incase like me you leave birthday cards till the last minute and need somewhere to write on them, then the address on the envelope afterwards, but I think I put the wrong house number on.
