I was walking along in the countryside the other weekend when I smelt one particular variety of plant or flower that took me back to when I had done the same walk about a year ago. Well, you know how a particular smell or piece of music somehow bizarely transports you to where you heard/smelt it last and that you feel the same feelings as you did then.
Now when this happened to me I felt a sense of sadness at how I felt a year ago, with slightly different attitudes, feelings etc., it all seemed so good a year ago. But then, I thought; no, actually I wasn't happy at all that time a year ago. So my question to you is:
Was I really happy a year ago when I thought I wasn't.eg. 'You don't know what you've got until it's gone'.
Or was I actually reminiscing on a past that wasn't actually there. eg 'Looking through rose-tinted spectacles'.

I get that too. I normally feel sad at these sensations, but I'm not sure why. I like to feel that it's because the past has gone and you can't bring it back, and any regrets you have ever had will remain.

How deep and meaningful.

Thank you very much.
I just feel that I'll never be able to bring the feelings back that I had.
And I feel that perhaps I missed an oppurtunity when I had those feelings.
When I get that feeling it's always tinged with a lot of sadness. It's bizarre.

I get a bit nostalgic when I look back through photos of my old primary school, old friends, places I've been, people I've know, etc.

My local station does the 10 at 10 thing too. They have a textline now as well, my brother gets it EVERY time and rings in/texts with names of various people. He rang in as my niece, and the guy was like "well done to <insert name> , just chilling out on the sofa today" etc. 8)

Listening to old radio 1 clips is very nostalgic for me cos I've kind of listened in one form ot another for my whole life! Like listening to clips of DLT, Jackie Brambles, Simon May, Zoe & Kev.

Ah...it brings so many memories flooding back...

I get that with tunes on the radio. If it's something I haven't heard for a while it usually reminds me of what I was doing or where I was when I last heard it. - jc

I always get that with songs, I spose by having lots of songs they act in a way like small time capsules holding memories of people and events. I have a few songs that remind me of people just the lyrics remind me of them, or moments I've had with them when the song has been on. Brings a smile to my face thinking of them and what once was. :)

You will just have to accept the fact that your neice has reached that time in her life when she cannot have sex every day of the month.

I have been perusing my double volume edition of the Oxford English dictionary, and I can't seem to find the word 'neice' in it anywhere. I am slightly perplexed; perhaps it is from some sort of West country dialect.
