hello everyone, Just to let you know i am on the mend back on the computer which i am lovin' thanks for your nice comments and stuff.

So i am alive but apprently i am also Pissed off. I read an artical about some stupid american movement wanting Britain to pay £31,960,000,000,000 for reparations payments to put it in there words for the profound injuries we have suffered over the last 500 years from British brutality, negligence, malevolence, crimes against humanity, and other heinous and atrocious forms of misrule. It is far from enough to make us whole, but a necessary first step in the long process of British coming to terms with its historical guilty and reconciling itself with global opinion and international law.

So dudes and dudettes are you ready to get out your purses and wallets to pay the nice people of american who feel we have ruined the world. *cough*

ummm... i think it's also a stupid protest against paying reparations to lots of other people. really, people should learn not to take stupid american movements too seriously. i mean, it's the only way i can sleep at night.

of course it's easy to pick on america when britain seems to have a far spottier past in terms of oppression and brutality around the world. it's just been the past few decades that america's really come into its own.

I've said this to you in the chat room before (although I was a bit more subtle in there - that may have been my fault). How can you take one of the biggest countries in the world and state categorically that everything about it is bad?

I've yet to see you give any examples of your deep seated hatred...?

I'm not saying that I agree with all the things that America does / says / produces / promotes, but I would be very careful about how I phrase my opinion. Saying that "you hate America" is such a broad statement it makes it rediculous. It's like saying "I hate all women". Or my aunt saying "All teenagers are evil" (she didn't speak those words, but that was the jist).

You say America has no redeeming features - are you aware of how much America and its products / inventions influence your life? While I can accept that certain parts of the country you would disagree with, I would maybe suggest having a think about what parts these are before you start spouting off.

Unfortunatly, it is probably a more popular opinion that you would imagine, but I would think that it is for the same reasons that you have listed... oh wait, you haven't. My point being that most folk hate America because the papers tell them to.

Or did you mean redeemable as in what it contributes to the world in general? Billions of dollars in aid to foreign countries. You're right. That's pathetic.
Or, how about redeemable as in America's inventions? Hmm, I believe America invented the internet that you are now using to unfathomably bash an entire nation. It's supremely arrogant and a bit disturbing that you'd put it in print that you wish it would it would "burn to the ground" and that you hate all of us because "we're losers." A bit insensitive, too, since Southern California just suffered massive devastation due to wildfires and me and my family had to be evacuated for an entire week.
I forget you're really young so I can only assume that as you get older your unwarranted anger issues mellow out and you learn to curb your tongue for the sake of harmony.

Sir Tim Berners-Lee, who is a Briton, invented the World Wide Web, which is generally thought of as the same as the internet, but TCP/IP was developed (I believe) by the American Vint Cerf (and his team).

That aside, foot-loose is right, it's impossible to go through your life without some form of American influence and while some of it may not be totally positive, some of it inevitably will be.

Do you enjoy watching films, scamp88? If so, do you avoid American films? Because you're missing out on a lot if you did. Like I say, I find that site hilarious, it's nothing to get worked up over.

If you have to "hate" someone (I personally hate that word) then you should make it based on your personal opinions and not that of the tabloid press. To say you hate an entire country is a bit of a gross generalisation and doesn't really seem to be based on anything concrete. Kendra (as an example) is the least typical American you're ever likely to meet. Do you "hate" her? There are places I would like to go before America, but I certainly wouldn't avoid it on the basis that you're saying.

Catherine is also right (though perhaps calling you thick was going a bit far), making sweeping comments like that is still racism, regardless of which country or ethnic group you are talking about.

Scamp, what operating system in running on the computer you posted this from? My 'guess' would be Windows Vista, am I right? Now Windows is made by Microsoft, which is an American company. *shock!* Many people may not like MS, but it's hard to deny that they helped made PC's available to the world in a way that may not have happened without them.

Apache, which is the software that this very server uses to serve chrismoyles.net, is controlled by the Apache Software Foundation, which is based in America. Debian, the distribution of Linux that the server runs, was started by a student in an American university.

My point, like others before have stated, is that you are taring every American with the same brush; the actions of a few idiots shouldn't spoil the image of the entire country (even if one of those idiots happens to be in power). Take a look at out own nation for example; outsiders might hear about anti-social behaviour orders and the football-related hooliganism that takes place and think that the country is full of out-of-control animals, this just isn't the case, and the same logic applies to America too.

However my Grandad hated the Americans because he was taking a Hill in Normandy, and the Americans were meant to come in from the North in a pincer movement, they spotted a German though and retreated leaving my Grandad to ferry 100's of soldiers back down the hill under fire from the Germans. He lost many friends that day and a half he spent going up and down the hill, and finally was blown up and a lung collapsed and he was in Hospital for 17 months. He would have got a medal, but he had been ordered repeatedly not to go back up, which he ignored. Anyway that is why he hated all Americans, but then he didn't like black people or Gays either...........

Glad you're well Scamp also on facebook there's a group calling for the revoking of the declaration of independance and how American should once again fall under British rule. It's hysterical what some of the 14year old American's have written on there.
