I think not seeing the show you've got it completly out of proportion. It didn't even occur to me until it was posted up here, and there was certainly no reference at all to the shootings in America.

I don't think anyone is seriously suggesting that it was deliberate.
What is shocking is that no-one on the show spotted this grossly insensitive feature.

Stevo implied it might have been delibrate. I didn't notice it was 'grossly insensitive' simply because it wasn't. I think you'd have to see it to realise it was in no way related.

Well as I said I didn't see the show. Hearing more of the background to the sketch, then it sounds as though it was a lot more innocent. As you say, if I had of seen the show I probably would have seen the sketch and not thought anything of it, without making any connections to shootings in America.
I think the sick thing is, that this dunderhead seems to think that they did the sketch in a deliberate attempt to link the situation to the shootings in America, when in reality it's probably just a rather unfortunate coincidence.

I'm not sure if I'm the dunderhead or not. The reason I brought it up was not because I thought it was a deliberate attempt to link the incidents and hurt people. I brought it up because Chris Moyles Live is a show which sells itself on taking an irreravent look at the days news. Granted this means he often ignores the important issues and instead refers to less serious events albeit with a comic touch. Thats fine, thats pretty normal I'd say, if you are going to make jokes, its best not to be talking about the serious events.

However, my point was that considering this show refers to the days news events, they are clearly in touch with whats happening. On Monday Sky News, ITN News and BBC News24 had this story as its lead with live coverage the whole afternoon. ie quite a big story of the day I thought. Then on the CML show he has a sketch with people being shot. I am not trying to say I am offened, or that he deliberately did this to offend, I am saying it was ill timed and not very well thought through.

Yeah, but you could just say that any sketch that features people being shot is offensive. I don't think it was ill-timed, I just think it was a rather sick joke and would be whenever it was shown.

See its comments like that that keep this thread going. We'd reached a conclusion where everyone was happy but someone has to not read the thread and post crap. Just like you are doing now really. Its when people don't bother reading posts, then write some rubbish, it forces people to reitterate what they have said, and thus makes a thread much longer than it needs be.

You didn't answer the question, so I'll assume you were deeply affected by the allegedly deliberate connection between that sketch and the recent shootings. So why are you spending your time defending your position on a Moyles-related messageboard (which very few people if any here seem to agree with) instead of lodging a formal complaint with the Broadcasting Standards Council over what you obviously deem offensive material? - jc

That's right, if it was that bad (like the first show f*ck incident) it would have been in the news by now and the BSC would have thrown up a fuss...

btw this same person has written the exact same post on the BBC Board. Talking about a Channel 5 show on a BBC Board. Very intelligent person.

That was kind of the point, I wasn't offended in any way and did say that several times in my posts. To then have someone say "Is it a proble, were you deeply hurt by it" and base their argument on that wasnt deserving of an answer. It was deserving of a 'please read my posts' reply.

As for me posting it on the BBCi website in the Chris Moyles forum, I was merely hoping to get a response from as many Chris Moyles fans (like me) as possible to see what the feeling was. I was not offended, I am still not offended, I just thoguht it was badly timed and merely wanted to see if other fans like me thought that this was the case.

I don't pretend I am the sharpest bulb in the jar, however, I don't think it was particularly foolish to post it on a BBCi forum.

Night :)

Obviously not, I might be missing something here, but since when did bulbs go in jars and when were they ever sharp?

Little rocket - have you been on the sky movies message board to bring up this point as they showed "enemy at the gates" on the same day, which i think is about snipers.

fellas :)

I am not offended, how many times do i have to say this. I was just wondering how the other CM fans of the show felt about it, thats all. I'm not trying to make any big statement, just wanted to know what other people thought. I thought thats why this forum might have been here, to get others views on things about one of his programs.

I'm sorry if me bringing up something maybe not so lighthearted and pointless as most of the topics seem to be has annoyed anymore, it wasnt my intention. I do wish though, if people are going to criticise they at least read my posts before doing so.

I think everyone has made their feelings clear on the issue, and if you really don't think this wasn't a valid post, maybe just dont reply to it anymore and let it sink to the bottom.

I think it's pretty sick that you seem to be connecting these two issues. It's almost as if you believe that Chris's show set out to offend.
