Does anyone else have HOTMAIL? They have done something to it, and now it's extra "in your face".. It also seems to be automatically copying sent messages to the sent messages folder, rather than you have to tick the little box.

Aaaaaaaaahhhh.

You mean what every other mail client (web-based or otherwise) has been configured to do by default for donkeys years?

Look, I prefer to tick the little box, because I don't necessarily want everything I send copied. This is a bummer. It doesn't look that great either. Now, it seems you can't just tick one box in the trash can, and everything deletes either. You've gotta go through them one by one.

Yeah it seems you have to specify this in the options if you wanna save sent email or not save it. There's no inbetween.

I hardly use hotmail anymore. These days I've mostly been using gmail.

Damn, no edit button in here!? I meant to say Hotmail is covered in adverts as well these days, bleh.

I only have a hotmail account for MSN, I have never used it for email, we have our own domain and my email is on that, I use Outlook Express at home.

hotmail attracts so much junk... I've 117 junks in my trash can, and that's only since Monday when I last cleared stuff out. The junks are breeding, I think.

To each their own.

Personally, I still block all incoming messages from Hotmail users unless they're specifically white-listed; I think there's a whole two people on that white-list.

well, yep, to each their own! Why on earth would you honestly want to keep everything you send.

What does "white listed" mean?

Sounds faintly racist. But I know what you mean.

For reference. Why would you not want to keep them?

Viv 113 wrote:What does "white listed" mean?

A white-list is simply a list of things that you accept, and a black-list is the inverse (a grey-list is inbetween).

Why not want to keep them:

a) most of my inbox is junk friends, who are a menace to my actual sanity.
b) the other people I write to are 1) friend in America who writes me a lot of rubbish. 2) friend in Glasgow who writes lots of rubbish
c) friend in London who writes lots of rubbish.

I don't really have anyone sensible to write to, so that there is some kind of need to keep the stuff. Anyhow, I have a thing called a memory.

I use it a lot, I've had the same e-mail address since I was 18 so people always remember it. I filter a lot of my junk out so it's not so bad. These days when I want to sign up to anything on the net I use my second hotmail account where I don't care how much spam it gets.

Hah, thats what they tell you so you don't get too depressed in your late thirties. It's the same as "size doesn't matter" and "it's personality that counts" and "more than a handful's a waste" - a load of absolute rubbish!

Luckily the sent items don't go in the inbox, they go in the sent box.

Viv 113 wrote:b) the other people I write to are 1) friend in America who writes me a lot of rubbish. 2) friend in Glasgow who writes lots of rubbish

Should I take from this that you write rubbish back that you wouldn't want to keep? If not then this is a useless point.

Viv 113 wrote:I don't really have anyone sensible to write to, so that there is some kind of need to keep the stuff.

I think it's a good default to keep stuff, you can always delete it later, you can't retrieve something that was never saved.

Viv 113 wrote:Anyhow, I have a thing called a memory.

So you can remember the content of every E-mail you've ever sent?

Viv 113 wrote:I have a young brain.

Is that because you don't use it a lot?

hmmm.. I don't know how to filter junk. Would you like some of my junk friends?

You know, often when I talk about stuff on here, the stuff I have been talking about appears in my Hotmail. I mean, quite recently I was talking about Halloween, and some Halloween stuff showed up. Then I was talking about France, and some "Paris" stuff showed up.

I use my brain every day. At least I don't have the brain of a bot.

I'm just not doing work-related stuff in my hotmail, or I would see a need to keep note of any activity.

I reply in a polite, but concise fashion to my friends. Thus, there is no need to keep note of anything.

I am aware the inbox is not the sent box. I don't wish anything be in my "sent box" because I have such a number of brain cells I can remember what I have said to people.

Don't say that. I was depressed enough about my cards yesterday with "40" stamped all over them.

Why not just activate the preference that nade talked about then, although if you don't use the sent box at all I can't see how it's contents could bother you.

I will then. It's just annoying me that I have to go and do this, when before Hotmail had it organised differently. Random changes sprung on people with no warning.

And I am aware of stuff in the "sent box"...mentally, I know it's there, and that makes me crazy.

Actually the beta of the new design has been out for ages, years possibly, and there have been plenty of announcements of the features and style changes. I thought they had already switched over though.
