Right! I would like some honest opinions on the following:-

What is attractive about the Foo Fighters? Why do people in their right mind actually like them?

I hope this doesn't cause too much fuss, but why in Hell would you listen to a band who just simply yell their way from one end of a song to another?

I find them the equivalent of a knife being scraped across a plate x 100.

Am I alone in this?

"Best of you", "Pretender" (the current one). It's just psychological torture.

You only need know one song Console, the rest will all sound the same.

I agree with Viv, they are uber over rated.

Theyre ok. Not to get excited about though.

Foo Fighters are amazing, and if you think they just shout then you must be basing your opinion on an extreme minority of their songs. Their actualy current one, 'Long Road To Ruin' doesn't shout, and it's a fantastic song (Chris played it this morning after he spoke to Dave Grohl on the phone in case you were listening.)

Their good songs (first three albums) include: Monkey Wrench, Learn To Fly, Everlong, I'll Stick Around, This Is A Call, Alone & Easy Target, My Hero. Their not so good ones (everything after that): Best Of You, Times Like These, The Pretender, One By One.

I used to love them, cos I had loved Nirvana and was desperate for some new work by one of them, and the songs were really powerful and catchy. Dave Grohl played and sung every single part on the first album himself. I saw them live in 2001 and they were amazing. But now they've turned into a parody of themselves, all their songs are Foo-Fighters-by-numbers. Strabgely, me going off them has coincided with them becoming more popular than ever before. Same thing happened with the Chili Peppers.

That was meant to say 'actual'. Sorry, I can't stand my own typos, especially when they make me look retarded.

I did hear him speaking to Dave Grohl, Bonan., and he (Dave) actually seemed a nice person. I've not heard the song though. I thought it was quite funny that "Folk Face" offered to be a support group, only to be greeted with deathly silence. :-)

Ooh, I know that one, and it is quite a dull song really.

I don't really understand Radio 1's fascination with most of the bands that they play.

You don't seem at all retarded. More very sensible and switched on. Not bad for someone from Aberdeen.

Haha yeah. I do think Dave Grohl has earned his 'Nicest man in rock' tag. Foo Fighters are talent in abundance, I think they put it to good use. There are better bands, but Foos are up there.

As someone said elsewhere, Radio One get themselves all worked up over them. I imagine it's because the Foos are probably the biggest international band who pay Radio One any constant attention.

They are alright, but not as good as Mrs Whiley thinks they are. It annoys me that we are hearing trails already for this gig they are doing at Webley next summer.

A local guy near where I live was driving for them some time back, and Dave Grohl turned round and gave him a £50.00 tip.

They are overrated, but they're also pretty good.

Thanks.

I've also decided to start quoting more, because if I try to reply to a specific post without the quote,a bout 3 people manage to post in between and therefore it makes no sense. It be madness I tells ya!

If you use the reply page (as opposed to the "Quick Reply" function), when you press submit, if someone else has posted in between when you started replying and when you submitted, it shows you the post and you get the chance to edit yours. It's a good idea, methinks; then you get the chance to add your quoted text if need be.

That doesn't always work - for example, the post that I am quoting here didn't show up before I posted afterwards...

Not really. Obviously I declare all tips to Mr Vat Man.

I'd imagine I submitted my quote while you were reading the thread then.. so it had already been posted by the time you clicked reply.

If that's the case, then it should be in the thread review beneath the posting form.

Quote-a-thoning. Not multi-quoting.
