Thanks Viv, I had missed that.

How is that relevant? The new criteria for a film being classed as a 'Christmas movie' is that it has to contain Christmas, not that you've seen it.

I never fancied the Truman Show, I don't like whatsisname thingy. About A Boy just looked like another Hugh Grant sentiment-fest to me, and although I would probably quite like it, I was never moved to go to see it or buy it. The other one I've never heard of.

To expand on "has Christmas in it" - whilst the film is not specifically about Christmas, a significant part of the plot is underlined or expanded by the fact that it actually is Christmas in at least part of the movie. So I would think that not all films featuring the odd bauble and piece of tinsel would quite qualify. For me.

I like The Holiday with Cameron Diaz, Kate Winslet, Jude Law, and Jack Black.

A proper christmas movie has to be The Snowman no talking just lots of flying.

I agree. If Xmas is in it somewhere, then it is simply a Xmas movie!

It's probably my favourite Jim Carrey comedy, although 'The Number 23' is my favourite of his overall.

To be honestly, it does get very Hugh-Grant-y in places, but there are some very funny moments, and it's worth watching at least once.

'Catch me if you can' is based on the true story of Frank Abagnale Jr (sp?) and his numerous cons around America. It's a very good film (especially considering it has Leonardo DiCapuchino in it).

It's Leonardo Di Caprio actually. He isn't a musical notation either.

My sister used to be scared of 'The Snowman' (and still is in some respects). It was something to do with being kidnapped by a snowman and taken far away from home.

Glad to be of service - think of it as reciprocation, because you do that to me all the time!

I've not seen The Number 23, though the trailers looked pretty good. The Truman Show was a very good film and everyone says EdTV is a better film based on the same idea, but I've not seen that.

I know I'm in the minority but I actually quite like Jim Carrey's face-pulling comedies. Liar Liar was great. Actually, I can't be that much in the minority, because at the time when he was doing those sorts of films, he was one of the highest (if not the highest) paid actor in Hollywood, apparently.

EdTV is a good film, but I'm not sure I'd say it was better.

I liked 'The Mask' and the first 'Ace Ventura', but I haven't really liked any of the others. I'm not really a fan of comedy films in general though.

I really like Liar Liar too Toph, i've found the same as you though that not many people like him because of his face pulling and that.

Oh, I just thought of another Christmas film, 'Futurama: Bender's big score' - it features Santa Claus and 'God', you can't get more Xmas-y than that.

I still prefer The Simpsons to Futurama. I have the Simpsons Christmas DVDs numbers 1 and 2, I need to get 3. I think there's a 3.

It's just a bit too nasty at times for me. I do think it's funny, but it's too spiteful.

I just watched White Christmas but I've always prefered Holiday Inn. I love that movie. I'll keep my eyes open for it on DVD. And, yeah, I forgot that great Muppet Christmas Carol and the Patrick Stewart one, too. Ooh, and Love Actually. Such a sweet movie.

Family Guy is good, but nowhere near as good as Futurama, and it's only really better than the recent Simpsons episodes, it's not as good as the old ones.

I think if the simpsons weren't so family friendly it could be a hell of alot funnier. They should do a series that's a 15 or something like a one off thing.
