I don't think so, I think she was 'slimed' to death. Some sort of slime creature threw a poisonous ball of gunk/slime at Tasha which killed her.

I can't quite remember properly, but I think that a 'Tasha' was brought back from an alternate reality, and then she was captured by the Romulans or something.

One 'f', 'Worf'. I remember a BBC2 show announcer once say the following to introduce a ST:TNG episode: -

"And next, Worf is in danger, and the question is, can he 'cling on'?"

Hardy-har har.

By the way, I liked Oceans 11 too (haven't seen 12 or 13 yet), I was just saying that the original was probably better. Very different though, which is good becuase there is less of a tendancy to be "one or the other", it's ok to like both.

That's nothing, I have realised I have 'Dave' on Freeview, which is OK because if I'm bored and there's nothing on I can watch re-runs of Top Gear or Whose Line Is It Anyway (I'm not sure they play any other shows). The continuity announcer on 'Dave', though, is dire. Just tell me what's coming up and piss off.

Is it Phil Jupitus? the announcer on Dave, I mean.

Also, they show QI and Buzzcocks too. That's about it as far as I've seen.

I don't know, if it is he puts on a northern accent. I didn't know if it was that wotsisface. Terry someone I think.. northern fella, I think he's been on Sky programmes before as a presenter.

Ah yeah, so they do, I forgot them.

It was a QI extravaganza the other night on Dave. I've no idea how that quiz works, or how the winner wins, but it's still funny.

That said - i've no idea how the points scoring system works on Have I Got News for you. All I know is that they will ALWAYS have two points each after the end of round one. Then Paul will normally win, even though he tends to get the answers wrong.

Last weeks episode with Russell Brand was excellent.

On QI, you get awarded points for being (quite) interesting. You lose 10 points for giving an answer that is deemed obvious, and, in the fifth (E) series, you get 10 points for getting the 'Elephant in the room' bonus. Fry also offers other bonuses occasionally, for doing certain things throughout the show, like drawing images, or making words, or just for extremely difficult questions.

See when alarms go off and words flash on the screen - is that when they get the wrong answer?

Or is it when they say an obvious answer that isn't the one Fry is looking for?

The alarms go off when they give an obvious answer (the obvious answers are pretty much always wrong).

Errr Console you said you didn't watch this stuff, for someone who doesn't watch it you seem to know a lot about it!

I said I didn't watch the Star Trek movies, I used to watch a couple of the series; ST:TNG and ST:V mainly.

Like Play School used to be.

Agreed. However I have also now appreciated the comedy genius of many other guests on the show, such as Jo Brand!

wiki thinks it is Phil Jupitus:

Dave is available daily, from 7 am to 3 am, on all platforms. It calls itself "the home of witty banter" and now uses Phill Jupitus as an announcer.

but then we all know anyone can edit that so it isn't exactly authoritative.

Doesn't Gregg James do the daytime announcing on Dave? I'm sure he said he did on his show the other week.

Ah just to get my geekyness over and done with.....

Tasha Yar was killed by the black slime thing early on. A few years later the ship finds some time vortex/hole/tear/wibbly wobbly thing and an older version of the Enterprise came through it (1701-C - Someone kill me please). This caused a change in the timeline where the Federation was still at war with the Klingons and as such Worf wasn't on the ship anymore but Tasha was (it's a different timeline, they can do anything they like).

Guinan (Whoopi Goldberg) convinced Picard to send the other ship back even though it meant certain death for the crew as it would put things back how they should be. She also told Tasha Yar that in the original timeline she was dead so Tasha volunteered to go back on the old ship cos they needed a tactical officer.

Some time later we find out that Tasha wasn't killed on the ship when she went back but was taken prisoner by the Romulons, one of whom took a shine to her and fathered a child with her. Tasha tried to escape but was caught and killed so the kid rejected her human side and as such grew up to be more like a Romulon.

Quite why the daughter grew up to be the spitting image of Tasha is never quite mentioned.

All of that is from memory and I haven't watched the show in years and years which just goes to show how my brain remembers geeky stuff but I can't remember the names of people I've just been introduced to.....
