Fish that speak French.... here they are:

Premier Poisson: Tu crois que Console est un peu fou?
Deuxieme Poisson: Oui.

And bruvva was being deliberately silly, basically suggesting he could now go out and blame higher forces. That wasn't my point.

Well it's certainly not mine - I'm being governed by external forces.

How exactly is that proof that there isn't a fish that can speak French?

No, that wasn't you're point, but it did show the stupidity of it quite well, I thought.

At absolute best, that's proof that they do exist, I said prove they don't exist.

I have something called a "sore head" now, so I'm going to bow out of this discussion. But I'm right though!! I'm gonna have this on my tombstone : "Here lies Viv, Ayrshire - always right".

I doubt it would say 'here lies Console', for starters 'Console' isn't my name, but I'm sure the person engraving it would know how to use capitals. Besides, cremation is the way to go.

Excellent, that saved me reading the thread Console, 3 pages of that.

Anyway I saw our kids play last night and it was excellent.

The reception class made a film, about a Cornish fisherman, shown on a laptop projector, the 50 year old Teacher had used blue screens, and filmed lots of place and put it all together with one of the children doing the Narration, it was bloomin excellent. The links for the different years was a Google Earth journey from one place to the other, and the special needs boy did the lighting. Top show I say.

The other thing I learnt was that Epithany is on January 6th and in some Cultures that is when presents are given in shoes to represent the gifts given by the Wise Men. I think that is a better idea, as then you could get everyone's presents in the January Sales ! 8)

Sunny this is not what my original point was!

My kids and many of the other kids in the class - and can I point out that it is not a multi-cultural school, by accident not design! - have been asking why they haven't done a nativity play! They should be allowed to celebrate Christmas in a traditional manner and not just get to discuss presents they want to a roomfull of adults

I know. It's just that Viv will "Viv" Console to death (and vice versa) and it played out in this thread. If it wasn't yours, it'd been someone else's. You were just the donkey I pinned the tail on...erm, that...well...nevermind. You know what I mean.

Console has to learn that not everything can always be fact/logical. There are certain things in this life that are beyond explanation. It's really that simple. And Console, the "Goodbye Mr A" song was written for you.... "you had all the answers, but no human touch....". Hee hee.

No, there aren't. It's really that simple.

I don't actually consider I am arguing. I am having a debate in which I know I too have valid points. It's just you can't stand that people may see things differently from you. :-)

On the contrary, a different point of view is a great thing, but unfortunately some are just irrational and don't make sense. They're usually based on emotional reasoning as opposed to evidence and while grounded in some truth (hence the believability) it is usually quite easy to see that they are wrong.

Have you proved that there's no fish that can speak French yet?

First of all, of course there are no fish that can speak French... that is silly!!

Emotional reasoning can be valid too. Take "intuition" for example. Largely based on feeling, and yet often remarkably accurate. :-)
