Say (for talkings sake) that there are 99 permutations. Then his name could be Professor Flake. (Crap, I know - but you get my drift (Drift! - get it? - like flake... never mind)

Is it possible to answer the question? I'm trusting you to not be taking the piss here.

There is a real, identifiable answer to the question. It's not the number or permutations that gives away the professor name, but the way in which the permutations build up. Work it out with 1 step, then two, then three etc, and you should quickly come to an answer.

Some bungalows have a front step, or two.

You were just without guidance for a time s4b. I'm sure it was a temporary abberration.

How do you spell abberration?

When you work out the number of permutations for different numbers of steps you should end up with something like the following: -

Steps -> Permutations
1 -> 2
2 -> 3
3 -> 5
4 -> 8
5 -> 13
6 -> 21
7 -> 34
8 -> 55
9 -> 89
10 -> 144
etc

Those able to recognise this sequence should be now able to guess at the name of the professor.

No-ones answered questions one and five yet. I thought someone would get the first straight away; it's quite a famous formula.

Not too sure what happened with that last post...........! [Fixed] Still not getting it although I'm not an expert on 'famous' formulae!!

Wikipedia tells us:

Leonardo of Pisa (c. 1170 – c. 1250), also known as Leonardo Pisano, Leonardo Bonacci, Leonardo Fibonacci, or, most commonly, simply Fibonacci, was an Italian mathematician, considered by some "the most talented mathematician of the Middle Ages". He had a fetish for painting the steps outside his house.

It worries me that Foots has randomly capitalised entire words. Tic or hangover?

I think he just copy and pasted from Wikipedia, but nothing is randomly capitalised.. names are (I think Middle Ages counts as the name of a period in history).

No. I was tickling him about the "It took YOU a WEEK?" thing. He always jabs at Viv and I when we do that.

Twas to place the emphasis on the words "you" and "week". Rather than say "it took you a week?" I was trying to convey the fact that if it took Console a week then there was little chance I would get the answer any time soon.

I only 'jab' if it doens't make sense and when it reads that someone is SHOUTING for no apparent reason. It always reminds me of the dude from Police Acadamy that screams half the time. Every time Viv talks about TESCO, I have visions of her twitching and shouting about it.

It amuses me.

I notice that she has stopped doing it though - so all is well in the world once again.

Twas a direct quote from Wikipedia. It is therefore true.

No kidding?! I'd done that once and used "emphasis" as my excuse, too, and you claimed I had "a nervous tick." Rather than charge you with agitated insects I kindly assumed it was a hangover or a nervous "tic" :P

Twitch and Shout? It sounds like a Beatles remake!
