Girls watch soaps too
If its aimed at Kids then why have singer songwriters, surely we all know that all kids want is pap like Gareth Gates and Blue.
Remember also that Channel 4 had big brother and Fame Academy is on BBC1 too. Thats the reason why its higher. Channel 4 highest show each week gets 4 million at best while BBC1 gets 13million. Plus Fame Academy has the advantage of having Eastenders before it.
Thanks for the Welsh Happy Birthday.
The BBC can't just do a populist programme like PopIdol - it has to find REAL talent hence why there are kids from lots of different backgrounds and why writing and playing instruments are important- to show that these kids have REAL talent. Watching popStars The Rivals you can really tell that there are yet another 10 Gareth/Will lookalikes there. ITV aren't doing it to find talent at all - they're there for a popular TV format only.
However I disagree that's ALL the kids want. My criticism with BBC1 is that they seemed to have chickened out at the last minute and have gone for 3 progs a week to be safe - his means that it's difficult to get into the programme ina a Big Brother style. Unfortunately it's vital for us to get behind the kids and really care about how well they do on the Friday night as that's what's going to create the tension on the night.
They do have immense talent (as you'd see if you watched digital or the 7 o'clock programmes). It's the nerves of the big Friday night that's hindereing them at the moment. But that'll the change as we get into the series. Remember we're 1 week in. There's another 9 to go.
btw no problem about the Birthday wish - hope it was a good one.
