i just feel that the cycle life of the format of these shows are over. for a little while at least. do you think that if the show had been 'air-ed' a year more down the line, that people would have been less bored about the whole idea and format?

dunno.

I DO agree there would have been more amazement at Fame Academy if it had come before the other Reality TV projects. But in a way that's not BBC1's job. Maybe BBC2 or BBC Choice, but generally speaking it's down to Channel 4 or Sky 1 to break a new format and then ITV and BBC1 brings it to the masses.

Big Brother.

Bu that's because I've watched 3 whole series of Big Brother (and started each of them saying this year's aren't as good) but then once we got to the last few weeks I was addicted. We're still in week 2 of Fame Academy!

I think the actual FA programme idea is better than Big Brother but due to it being after Big Brother and the fact that it's only on twice a week (the BB elements anyway) means it's harder to get into.

Does no-one else here think it's a sad state of affairs that there are a lot of anti FA posts here - yet 67% of people who voted admit to not have seen it!

Aled i see your point however the heavy promotion that the BBC did for it put people off watching it...as they gave too much information about ti...where as they should have said a little bit and let the audience find out for themselves what it was about

I'm not particularly anti-Fame Academy at all. Instead I reserve my dislike for shows like Pop Idol which saturate the charts even more with bad cover songs. Here's hoping Fame Academy produces better talent. - jc

bob if moyles puts out a good show he will get more viewers whether fame academy works or not. i'd like to see fame academy do well but i still say its the people in there that make the programme work not the format. also patrick keilty is rubbish..

So as Moyles said today more FA News on Wednesday, That means a cutback from 5 updates 3. If that isnt a sign that this isnt working, i dont know what is. That will no doubt be cut to 2 shows. The Friday and the Monday. Im waiting for Aled to say, Yes Bob, its sucking big time, but i bet i wont get it.

Theres only 1 thing that will get more viewers. Some lesbians. Let Carrie that voice coach start to touch up some of the girls. It will guarantee you at least 5 million male viewers.
Its a proven fact. That Tipping the Velvet, i havent watched it, im always here, it got 5 million not because of some posh snobby script but that there was girl on girl action.
Every Friday Channel 5 dominates the 11pm timeslot with their softcore porn with on average 2 million viewers. SEX SELLS

I'm not sure BBC1 can really do much with your suggestion seeing as Fame Academy is on at 7pm. In any case Lesbian action must surely be the LAST thing you'd want on FA because that would then attract the "lad" population which WOULD detract from Moyles! (The last thing you'd want).

UB, please take the blinkers off. We all understand that you don't like FA, even though you've never seen it, but are you really suggesting that because you don't like it no-one else should/could?

5 million watch Fame Academy 3 times a week. 6 million listens to Moyles every day. Are you really suggesting the FA audience figures are that bad? The reason for the feeling that it hasn't taken off is that everyone assumed (including me) that it would be higher than 5 million that's all. but 5 million certainly does not equal sucking badly!

We are down to 3 a week, but this a decision that is considered wise for BB as well and has been planned from the start. For the first couple of weeks we set up the scene explaining who everyone is. The last couple of weeks we build on the excitement of the final so every day makes sense. But in the mid weeks of the series there simply isn't enough info for every day- so we're doing 3 filled sections a week.

I have no problems with you knocking me, the show or the items but keep them to structured criticism and not just plain spiteful please.

it just seems really dull. something that should not be on. i know its made by the same production company as big brother, but its boring. i'm not into the time thing. okay- now its 6.00pm- you shall eat now etc etc...

like with everything- the boring ppl will get voted off and the people with talent well start to shine.. and another thing- they should of got a few people there with talent and not forgetting good looks....

oh god help me im going to defend fame academy..... the friday shows arent that bad although the presenters are rubbish. ive said before what i think of the actually contestants but the idea itself is quite a good one. as for the midweek shows they need to choose better things to focus on i dont want to watch a person singin the same song a few times even if they are getting better (or worse)....

Thought it was funny when the Grade A student and pal (cant remember names) came home drunk.

Why dont they put it on a bit later on a Wednesday? Wednesday telly is usually crap.
