What did everyone think? Yea, they say he was tired, but I don't think he quite 'got it' ('It' being the nature and feel of the show), and there were lots of awkward silences. At one point It nearly had the Scott Mills effect on me and I almost turned over due to the cringing.

I only heard the first quarter of an hour or so, but I'd tend to agree. The bit that did make me laugh was when Rock was saying that the British drink a lot, then he said "you drink so much you think darts is a sport!"

The bits I heard (I was a bit in and out of the car at the time) sounded a bit dodgy - he wasn't really up for it and he wasn't properly awake. Chris tried, but it sounded like very hard work.

I'm always disappointed when guests clearly don't have a clue who Chris is or what his show is about, because then it doesn't matter how great they normally are at whatever they do, it doesn't work as entertainment. Chris Rock is obviously a funny man, but if all he had to offer was the occasional sleepy joke and no real attempt to connect with Chris, why bother?

Chris Moyles is shown up again for being a self obsessed, fairly talentless, so-called "DJ" who surrounds himself with a bunch of sycophants; in whose eyes he can do no wrong because he is the reason they get:

1. airtime
2. a belief that they are themselves celebrities
3. an overly inflated salary

Chris Rock, "just didn't get it", he didn't get what?

Maybe he didn't understand that "guests" on Chris Moyles's show must remember that they are not there to be interviewed, but just to be used as props for Chris Moyles to use as he talks about himself and how great Chris Moyles is.

What on earth convinced Chris Moyles that Cris Rock, or the listening public would be interested in stories about how Chris Moyles bought a Tshirt in NewYork saying "Everybody hates Chris", and how everybody would naturally assume that the message was about chris Moyles...

Or how when Chris Moyles went to New York the rooms were sooo small he had to change to another room in the hotel....

Chris Moyles.... try asking your guests some questions about what activities they are currently involved in, try engaging your "guests" in conversation, try maintaining their interest instead of trying to blow up your own ego, try doing some research and having some questions prepared in advance.

That way maybe they will "get it"...

Have to say I loved it when Chris Moyles asked Chris Rock what kind of questions he wanted to be asked... only for Chris Rock to rebut Moyles by telling him that "you are the pro, you should know your own audience"

Very, cringeworthy, but worth listening to, if only to hear Chris Moyles being shown up for what he is.

Two final comments, comedy Dave, is far funnier, and far more professional than Chris Moyles, shouldn't the roles be reversed with Dave being the focus of the show..

And as for that Aled... self-important, sycophant

Having listened to Aleds points during the rating of the guest and the chat with Jo - it sounds like Mr Rock wasn't in the best frame of mind even had Parky been sitting in Moyles's chair!

Well, you clearly don't get it either. There have been many guests, including Americans who have no reason to know who Moyles is, particularly recently who have been very entertaining and engaging in the banter and sprit of the show.

Anyway, within about a minute of the interview starting I knew it was going to be awful. I only caught bits of it since I was getting ready for work and I did think at one point that it was going OK.

Wasn't really surprised when he got such low scores.

I was really looking forward to hearing this interview, Im a big fan of Chris Rock and his stand up, but hadnt really heard him in an interview talking nornamally. I thought this interview would be full of stuff that Ofcom wouldnt be happy with. The closest this got was Rock saying Bastard.
Ok fair enough the guy has been gigging and has the right to be knackered, but when you get offered a coffee and turn it down cos you wanna be in bed in a couple of hours! come on get professional.
It will be interesting to listen to collin murreys interview, to see if it was the same reaction Moyles got.

I felt genually sorry for Moyles, Ok maybe he needs to work on his interview skills, but he only does the same thing that Jonathan Ross does, talks about himself in order to get a reaction from the guest.

Maybe some of these American interviews should be pre recorded, like when Dom does them, but I guess then you dont get the guest actually coming into the show, but maybe it will make better radio?

Aled was saying that when he first introduced himself to Chris Rock, he wasn't interested at all in being briefed about the show (team, style, language etc), and that it was just very awkward etc.

Then, just before 8 o'clock, a woman from CR's entourage asked when he'd be going in (since he was booked from 8am - 9am) and Aled said about 12 minutes because of the news etc. At this point the woman started effing and jeffing saying that there was "no effing way he'd be waiting 12 minutes to go on" and that he had to sort it now. It sounded like Aled had a total nightmare with them, and that off-air, the rest of the team found it really awkward with CR as well.

These big Americans stars, they come over here like a tsunami, we lap everything up, we idolise them, which means they never have to try hard, but they should give a little back, I like Chris Rock used to get him confused with Chris Tucker, I love the humour, someone brought Rock's DVD in for the night when I used to work in retail and we were howling at that during the lunch hour at 1 in the morning, which was great.

If you were stupid enough to have never heard of him before today, then you'd be scratching your head a bit now, as to what all the fuss was about.

Moyles failed to open him up because some of his material is blue anyway, add to that he was tired and its a complete spanner in the works. So I think Chris Rock is the kind of guy - like me, who only comes alive at night time.

I didn't think it came out as bad as Chris made out. I didn't actually know who he was, but have now been investigating! I would have liked him to be more revealing, but I thought he came across as quite chilled, and I liked his sexy voice.... mmmm.

O, and I didn't like the idea of some woman being nasty to Aled.

Thats might well be true, but he's should still be professional enough to actually be awake for an appearance on a national radio show. If he's not going to bother to do that, why come? He doesn't get paid for it, and as Chris pointed out, his tour is already sold out, he doesn't need the publicity. I can only imagine his ego likes the idea that the second most listened to radio show in the UK asked him to appear. Well, I don't imagine it'll be asking him again.

I've just heard the interview, and it's not as bad as I thought it would have been (after reading the comments here). Granted, it's far from the best guest appearance on the show, but there were funny moments, and Chris Rock did seem to get more comfortable later on.

The bit when he said he listened via Sirrius on his computer, you'd think that would've given him a head start. When hes on stage hes magic, alive, funny and outrageous, easy to forget they enjoy switching off completely once they're out of their own territory, which is a shame.

He might aswell have been dragged from his bed beforehand, blindfolded, bundled into a van and driven to Radio 1, then manhandled, forced into stress positions, and subjected to sensory deprivation - all at the hands of his seemingly aggressive entourage.
