In a book by Michael Cordy, entitled "The Lucifer Code", I found this quote from Einstein,

"Religion without science is blind, and science without religion lame. Science should support faith, and turn it into something more potent".

Do any of you, however, actually believe religion and science can possibly co-incide?

Since a scientific theory only holds true until there is proof otherwise one must have faith in that theory to build other theory's upon it....

But no not really. There's a lot of stuff science cannot answer and anyone who wants to put it under "God/Buddah/Allah/some mystic energy force" are welcome to but don't expect me to follow suit.

Exactly, so the point is they can't possibly co-incide. So Einstein is, in fact, being quite ridiculous.

He also said quantum mathematics was rubbish and "God does not play dice" and there was a cosmological constant which meant the universe was in a steady state.

I created this topic, picked up on the fact that Console is in a mood this morning, thus asked Andy B. to go into this thread along with me, only to find that literally, as I was pm'ing, he already had!! I think religion and science can co-exist. I regularly worship in the Chequers in North Crawley, yet I think science holds the answer for the existence of life and the universe.

Ok, fair enough. But you should always know I'm getting at something, or am off on a path of discovery! You should read my novel I got from the library. I randomly grabbed a book (sometimes I do that to see what will come into my hands), got to the desk to have it stamped, checked it out, and lo' and behold... there was a character EXACTLY like Console in it! I almost bloody collapsed yesterday!

Stating what you're getting at (as opposed to expecting me to guess) would probably be a good idea next time then. An ambiguos quote followed by "Na ne na ne na-na" (or whatever it was) isn't exactly obvious.

Alot of scientists actually believe there is a parallel world to ours, something about atoms needing to go somewhere. I don't know what relevance this has to this thread but whatever.

Thanx for pitching this in, Cat. It was in my books that physics says that energy needs to go somewhere, thus surely even when a person dies, energy will be going somewhere (i.e. a soul).

It is indeed. The books is looking at life/death matters. The books has a "Console-type" character, who believes everything has an explanation, until his brother manages to communicate with him 6 MINUTES after dying.

There's a cool book I read that deals with quantum vacum energy and the posibilities of parallel universes. The central character also has a mental past so isn't sure if he's having an episode or if the universe keeps changing....

Can't remember the name of it but it's good if bloody weird!

No, it's talking about the conservation of energy, and it's not about the macro-universe, but about the micro-universe. The basic premise is that energy cannot be either created or destroyed, so energy doesn't just disappear, it moves, it changes to other forms of energy.

So, where's it going when you die then, Console? I've found a great website, which I can't bloody understand (physics), and I'm sure I'm onto something this morning as well. It's so annoying.

Sadly there is no proof of the energy of the "soul" so it doesn't go anywhere. When you die your brain stops working and you no longer exist.

Oh and Console - Hawking radiation! Quantum fluctuations against a background vacum. The whole premise of vacum energy.

There's no PROOF of it! So it could exist, however! I believe your soul is going somewhere else, Andy B.
