Following on from a member posting that they did not like the "cinema experience" (which I think is very odd indeed), I would like to know what others think of trips to the movies?

Do you love it? Hate it? And why?

Personally, I love it. It's away from the house, something different, you can "lose yourself" for the afternoon/evening, there's a really big screen. There's one I like to go to in Glasgow - "Cineworld", which has fantastic views all over the city, so not only are you getting a trip to the movies, you're also getting some great scenery!! :-)

The individual screening rooms are too small, you are always too close to the massive screen, which gives me a headache. The sound is always appalling - music and "action" deafening, dialogue inaudible. The seats are uncomfortable, and who knows how clean or dirty they might be? The places are always full of other people, many of whom, if you knew them, you might well choose not to be in the same room as. Even if they aren't sociopaths, they are often irritating in their habits. They smell (the room, not the people - well, the people might I suppose).

Not my idea of a happy time, although I like movies. I prefer to watch them in more comfortable surroundings though.

I like the cinema, but I do prefer it when it's quiet. I rarely go and see a hyped film just after it's been released. Generally we get the seats we like that make it comfortable viewing and not having to strain our necks to see.

I don't deny a lot of the people are annoying if you pay enough attention to them, but generally speaking, it's not too bad.

Personally, I can just "tune" people out, tophs, unless they are exceptionally loud. :-) In Glasgow, you can get in for less money, if you can manage to go in the morning before noon, which is cool as well.

O, I forgot another thing. If you have a partner, you can canoodle (or worse) at the back of the movies.

Another excellent reason not to go, people shagging in the back row. Yuck.

I never sit in the back row. Always around the middle.

I'm reasonable at blocking out background noise as well. You have to be able to do that when you play sport in a busy hall with a loud (but nevertheless inaudible) PA system.

I ALWAYS sit in the back row if I'm accompanying a girl....she sits near the middle though.

Yeah, i don't go to the cinema often. It's expensive and I have a really short attention span and get bored after an hour. I go to theatre much more, but then it's my job.

I like going to the cinema, but the one in Crawley is a bit of a S*it hole now, all the chavs have broken everything and its very expensive... its just a mess, needs alot of money getting it back up to scratch again... but the the chavs would just ruin it again i guess,....

There is always some loud mouth gits in there that like to chat and shout things during the film... i wouldnt go to the movies in Crawley if i were you!!!............

That is what pisses me off when I go to the cinema. The loud mouth arseholes. You spend all the money to get in to see the movie and it's ruined by a bunch of hooded chavs. The few times I've complained, no one did anything about it! The last time this happened was the last Die Hard movie. I had repeatedly told the kids to shut up. They didn't. When the film was over I confronted one of the instigators outside. He looked like he was going to pap himself. It was brilliant.

My favourite movie experience was in Titanic when Jack died at the end*. He got a very sarcastic round of applause as he dissappeared off into the darkness, which made me laugh.

*Sorry, that was a spoiler, but if you aint seen it by now - tough. This doesnt mean that someone should do the gag about the ship sinking.

I've actually not seen it but I did guess the ending.

I'm honestly not fussed about the cinema, too many people talking, throwing sweets/popcorn, sticky stuff on the floor and people fornicating in the back row where I can't see them!!
