Have stolen this topic from Edith Bowman! Thank you, Edith!!

Edith was out at the shops the other week, and noticed row upon row of celeb. magazines! And basically, scarcely anything sensible. So, on her show, she was asking what is it that makes today's people so obsessed with all these so-called "celebs". I and another listener texted in that it was due to the lack of serious idols in Society to look up to - i.e. great writers, singers, etc.

What do you think? Is it just fueled on a weekly basis by the media? Why do people buy into this crap at all? I know I certainly don't!!

It's a vicious circle. the paparazzi claim they only chase the celebs and take pics cos there's a market for it. But which came first, the photos or the demand? I don't know. I'm as guilty as other people tho, I buy Heat sometimes. I think I have "serious idols", but then I'm not 18 and impressionable.
