Then you did it in the wrong forum, didn't you...?

It's a shame, he was a guy everyone kinda disliked, but he brought some tv gold.

In all seriousness I actually thought he always came over as a nice guy when interviewed. COuldn't really understand the nations dis like for him. From what I understand he was a very active philanthropist, but was almost embarrased by being so.

I couldn't understand the dislike either to be honest, sounds like he did some good work. He was an easy target for the press, in my opinion.

Why does only ladbroke get the stick for having some fun? Is Foots excused from al retrbution? I think for someone who lived his public life as an entertainer he would want to give people one last laugh. Its not meant with malice or ill feeling but with the greatest respect.

At every funeral my family has attended whenever someone asks how you are it's almost become a joke in itself to reply with "better than X" where X is the name of the deceased.

At the funeral of a family member of mine, who wasn't a very nice person (complete arsehole), we were all sitting in the crematorium when someone, not too quietly asks 'Anyone else smell pork?'

Having thought about it, I would change my joke from giving him a big hand to saying that its a shame that he has gone. He has obviously been dealt a bad hand.

Also, I'd like to point out that I see nothing wrong in having a laugh at a potentially sad situation. I don't know anyone who would want everyone to be really sad at their funeral, surely everyone would want people to have a laugh / joke / good time and celebrate the life of the person that has died?

My opinion I suppose - others may disagree.

It just depends who has died. And the person's family. At my uncle's recent funeral, I understand my family headed off to the cemetery minus the body (my Uncle), who was still lying at the funeral parlour. I found this wildly amusing, although others may not. How do you forget the dead body?

He had a withered right hand Char. Check out pretty much every photo of him ever - you won't see his right hand, it's always out of shot or covered somehow.
