Good God : a bun is for those with long hair, who sometimes wish to put it up. You do this by: gathering hair together, and tying it up and back with a band.

With a bob style, the hair would be too short (in general), and you should not be able to do this.

That's what I thought it may have been, too.

I prefer mine short and spikey rather than a bun.*

Oh, and as far as the mastermind thing goes, my specialist subject would be TV Theme tunes (even if my collection has gone and wiped itself :( )

*FAO S4B: That is a joke. I am not a woman.

You know, I would like to know one thing: why do guys like WAX in hair? Or gel? I think this stuff is horrid, and looks incredibly greasy.

Well, Foot-loose does it. And I've seen loads of other people with the wax look. anyhow, I'm going to create a new topic now.. get ready. .

It depends on the wax / gel and how much they use. Done properly, it certainly shouldn't look greasy.

Most people I know do something with their hair.

Yep, it just mousse is in the World.. that's what I use.. I can never understand the popularity of wax & gels, that's all. :?

It's probably a marketing thing - guys have no idea what mousse does. All it makes me think of is that i'd be putting shaving foam in my hair.

I actually did that once at the gym - wasn't paying attention, went to give my chin a blast of the ol Mach 3, but for some reason I had it in my head that it was wax that was in my hand and put it onto my head instead. Standing in the changing rooms with shaving foam on my head, I felt like a bit of an idiot.

Yeh, you're probably right.. Mousse tho' should do pretty much the same thing as wax, except the hair wouldn't stick up quite so much.

Its usually only the 'wet look' gels that make your hair look greasy Viv. Mine doesn't look greasy at all, it just stands up more.

I haven't since I had my hair cut, but when I had it spiky, the reasoning was simple (and I think Ballbag may have pointed this out before): gel your hair or it goes all fluffy and you look like a right berk.

I don't agree with that, tophs. I prefer guys minus the gel, so I can run my hands through it. But that's just me. :-)

Ahem

If I were to go on Mastermind - which I won't because I have absolutely no desire to be on telly at all - my specialist subject would actually be the works, life and family of Jane Austen. I've been researching this on and off, just for my own interest, since I was about 13. I reckon I would be well in the lead at the halfway point, but would probably lose it all in the general knowledge round.

Topher has had all his hair shaved off and looks...

Actually, never mind.
