Nope. Well, my blade (the "bit of wood") costs around £30, but then I need new rubbers anyway and they're up to £25 a sheet and obviously I need two of them. Mrs Topher has a carbon blade (which, in this case is not the "bit of wood", but the blade is generally the wooden bit) and they cost up to about £50, then she has speed glue-effect rubbers, which cost up to about £30 each.. so her bat is a bit more expensive than mine.

Any sport (and probably any hobby in general) is expensive if you want to do it properly.

A good guitar would set you back from about £300

That could also be classed as 'a bit of wood'

Why do good things never happen without shit things balancing them out.

Now what's annoying me is the fact that I've taken the car to see a bloke today and the first thing he said was "you need to put that through the insurance, it'll be over a grand." I'm getting a second opinion, but that bloody stinks. I think I have a case to argue it was his fault, but I don't think I stand much of a chance of getting any better than a 50/50 judgement on it.

Bullshit.

Thanks timp. :) I'm staying away from people at the moment, hiding away in my room. I'm likely to shout and snap at the slightest thing.

Haha brilliant. Can't you do something else?

Or see.. Jumper, The Bank Job, Untraceable. Jumper is pretty good and the other two look good.

Semi-Pro was better than Jumper. Or you could go see The Other Boleyn Girl, Natalie Portman and Scarlet Johansson in a corsetted cat fight, don't you know?

The thing that's annoying me today has a story, which I won't tell here because someone (kendra!) will tell me to get a blog if I do! But the end point of it is that I have a badly sprained ankle. Ouch.

Seconded

Well, the sprained ankle (which looks like a large squashy technicolour pudding today) is only an adjunct to the story really, which involves my allotment which people must be getting VERY bored with hearing about. But since you ask........

My "sleeping partner" (in the sense that she is the tenant of the site but I did the work!) on the allotment unfortunately woke up, and has decided to stick her oar in, interfere and ruin my plans for the plot. There is a whole complex sub-text behind this which I won't bore you with.

I decided that our ideas for what we wanted to do on the plot were too different, and that I couldn't continue with the partnership - and was immediately offered another plot on the site. The new allotment is twice the size, and hasn't been cultivated in any way for several years, and was therefore covered in waist high grass and weeds.

I went over on Saturday to make a start on the new allotment, and the story of what had happened had spread throughout the whole "community" there (they really don't like my ex-partner at all) - and as soon as they saw me they all downed tools on their own allotments and came to help me start clearing mine. It was incredible.

I sprained my ankle - badly, I thought it was broken - after about half an hour (I had been warning everyone to be careful in the middle of the site because it was really uneven and dangerous - and it was me that copped it!), but with everyone there pitching in and doing my work instead of their own, there was no way I could just pack up and go home, so once I could stand up again (and realised by this time it wasn't broken of course) I just got back on with it - for a few hours.

I did a fair bit more damage to it I expect, but for the cameraderie and the experience of being helped by these people I've only known for a few weeks it was absolutely and completely worth it. Truly humbling in a very good way. I love that community, I really do.

The wind blew over my little greenhouse ( plastic covered shelving units) with 15 trays of lovingly sown seeds in, it all in a big lump and the front of it and the plastic cover is ripped and the frame is bent ! Sannoying !

I liked yuds story too. RICE on the foot Rest, Ice,Compression, Elevation. My wifes training to be a nurse don't you know !

I know you lot don't particularly care too much about my table tennis antics, but this is a place to vent my frustration, so rather than vent it on my forehead (a la last week), I'm doing it on here instead.. I played shit tonight and haven't played that bad in quite a while. And it's a crucial stage in the season and we're staring relegation in the face. Shocking.
