Sorry to double post, but I think the fact that bluebells will soon be here is great, daffodils, tulips, the works... leaves back on trees... it's almost too much excitement for the one person.

I think what they did was have BST (+1) all year round. However, as far as school-children are concerned, the only difference was that it was darker in the morning - not a good thing. It doesn't really affect the afternoon in the Summer.

A colleague used the springtime to propose to his girlfriend.

He planted 100's of daffodills on the side of a mountain in Scotland and waited until the daffs were in bloom and took her on a camping trip and pitched tent and then the following day took her for a ramble through the countryside and there in the side of this mountain planted in daffodills were the words "Will you marry me" and after such a romantic gesture she said no! He even had arranged a night at a luxury castle hotel and spa and a candle lit meal for that night instead he ended up traveling back home life in shatters! Heart breaking

But in general roll on the springtime I say!

There was a discussion about this on Radio 4 on friday. Apparently there was a motion in the Commons to get rid of it but it was overturned.

I can't remember exact details but it was something to do with the Scottish complaining.

Spot on - camping? If he'd booked them into a romantic little hotel with log fires and comfy beds and private bathrooms and hot water - and then taken her up to the mountainside, he'd have had a lot more chance. But camping? Oh no.
