Silly boy. I bought it in Scotland. In the woman's department. It's lovely. It's done in the Highland series. Mine is the coloUrs for either Loch Lomond or Glenfinnan (I can't remember). It's gorgeous though and a very handsome man helped me pick it out. Good memories.....

Well, that changes things.

*turns his nose down*

Womens kilts are different from mens. Don't ask me how, but they are. I think they are traditionally plainer but that could be wrong.

Aren't kilts supposed to be specific to a particular family? Or some other such shite.

Toph, kilts are specific to clans. However, the tartans I have (I forgot I bought a scarf, too) were done for the various districts in Scotland.

Get them signed by a vicar and take them to your local post office.

What? What I say?

We have districts? Regions, yes, but not districts. Or shires. Or counties.

You do have counties, surely.. What about Lanarkshire, Ayrshire, Aberdeenshire?

The tartan of a Scottish clan is a sequence of colours and shades unique to the material, authorised by the clan society for use by members of that clan for kilts, ties, and other garments and decorations. Every clan with a society has at least one distinct tartan. In addition to the clan tartans, there are many tartans registered for families, districts, institutions and even specific commemorative "memorials" for events or persons. Further, tradition reserves some patterns for use by Scottish Highland military units of the United Kingdom and Commonwealth countries.

But I am proud of the Northumbrian Tartan as it is one of the oldest in existence and certainly predates all Scottish tartans. :D

Why anyone would be proud of what amounts to little more than the sort of pattern you expect to see on Charlalottie's dad's flat cap, I've no idea.
