Looks like the Devil's work, to me.

Yes, we're going to be turning off our lights at 8. If we remember that is.

I think the point is that you find something to entertain you for an hour in the dark. We're going to have drinks in the garden!

I've just found this out by re-reading google's stuff.. I think this may have been the daftest question I have asked to date. I feel I've out-done myself this morning.

I'm just going to sit in the dark, with candles and contemplate life, I think, tonight.

i read somewhere on the bbc that the fire service are asking people not to use candles as last time they did this the amount of fires they had to attend in england went up 60% or something stupid like that

so you really are meant to just sit in the dark!

anyway save the world....burn down my house!

I think it's because a black screen uses less energy than a white screen. This is was 'revolutionary initiative' at my work last summer to save energy, and I worked for an energy company.

Turn the lights out and keep the telly on, thats what I would do.
Burning candles is more ecologically unfriendly than burning an 8wt low energy bulb in any event.*
(please note opinion stated as fact)*

More useful would be a week of not using the tumble dryer, that is really lazy, and should be banned, as should patio heaters.

I'm not sure there's definite proof that a black background reduces power consumption - not with an LCD screen, anyway.

It's interesting that most of the LCD screens actually used more power when producing a black background.

I disagree. You've posted far dafter things than that.

Did anyone do this?
Me and my flatmates all sat around the kitchen table and got slowly drunk. We used some candles to give a bit of light. It was a great thing to do, as we were saving energy and having a rare bit of chin-wag around the candles! We've only just finished and turned the lights on to clear up, it was a great evening.

Yes I did. I fell asleep on the sofa as it was so dark and I've only just woken up, everyone else has gone to bed and now I have a sore neck as well as a sore throat. Grrrrr saving the bloody planet my arse!

Am I the only person in the world who hasn't got a clue what any of you are talking about?
