The only thing I like about Bristol is that it's near to Clifton, which is a nice place.

Just like Weston-Super-Mare? Oh wait, that place has a run don area aswell!

So, apart from the odd part youve seen on tele, (which im intrested to know what part it was) you still seem to think Bristol is a shithole?

Well, it has been on the news on more than a few occasions, with various negative stuff going on...

Right, we can leave it at that. I'm not on to argue, and I'm trying to answer about 200 e-mails at the same time. Ok, Bristol may be lovely in reality. Perhaps I may visit, and totally change my mind some day.

Well, that's certainly an interesting view into your private life, but it takes all sorts, I suppose.

It might have been subsumed into the heaving metropolis lately, but it is a separate town and has always had a separate identity, from the seventeenth century when it became a popular spot for gentlefolk to visit to the present. The social history of that part of the country is quite interesting.

Probably about 5.30ish.

wurzel wrote:Why arent you too chuffed about Bristol? What part have you got to go to?

I'm not going to see Bristol, I'm going to do work and then come back. The part I'm going to is Clutton.

I'll be in Bristol through choice in a couple of weeks, when I take Mrs Topher to the Hippodrome to see French and Saunders.

We used to call Weston-Super-Mare 'Weston-Super-Mud' when I was a kid. It seemed to fit quite well.

Its not really a seperate town, but it does kind of have its own identity. Mainly its the more upper class people, and the posh "daddy daddy daddy" students that live there.

Ha, well, the people I know there are pretty wealthy, but they aren't posh, just worked hard and earned themselves an education which they then used to good effect. And I'm lucky enough not to have encountered the whiney students, I can quite see how that would be offputting!

Nope, I mean Clutton. I suppose it's not truly Bristol.. in fact it's probably between Bristol and Bath.. but they all speak the same to me, so to me it's Bristol (we have another office in the west country, Avonmouth, which I would be far happier visiting).

Yeah, that's probably the wealthiest area of Bristol if you know what i mean. Its the students tha live in Clifton that get my goat, all this "Daddy daddy, my £10,000 credit card limit has expired, can i have a £10,000 extension?" shite! Mainly the female variety. That's not being sexist, its the truth!

Yeah its not Bristol. Its more Somerset i would say.

If i were you, i wouldnt choose Avonmouth over Clutton! I've never been to Clutton but i would choose that over Avonmouth!

I would choose Avonmouth over Clutton because the people in the Avonmouth office are brilliant. That and I know how to get there far better than I know how to get to this place. Plus, the "office" in Clutton is basically a converted pig farm / barn.

Fair enough. Cant really argue with that.

Haha, not when done the way yours is done Zoot.. when it's been done the way this office has been done, they barely cleared the pig shit off the floor before moving the desks in. It's quite incredible actually, I couldn't believe it when I saw it.

Toph, you lucky chap, Clutton is really nice, or at least is very near to nice things.

I used to go to school in Chew Valley, and lived in and around the area for my formative years (17-21)

The Pelican in Chew Magna is great, and I always liked the Druids at Stanton Drew, the Carpenters at Stanton Wick, and the Pony and trap inbetween Chew Magna and Bishop Sutton, kind off.

The lakes are lovely as well, I proposed to the current Mrs Boboff there.

Apt that I have got the Wursels on I-tunes at present. Funny, I was in the young Farmers there and went to allot of Weekends where we spent drunken times shouting Sumer Sumer Sumer Somerset.

Clifton is nice too, with the Zoo and the Bridge, I did a few Audits out there, and a good friend of mine went to the posh girls school out there, they are posh Wurz, but generally not to hung up sexually, which in my mind makes up for the accent ! Only time I ever wore a cravat when I went out in Clifton ! (still looked like a townie though.

Clifton Boys school was the last public school to teach boxing in the UK I believe.
