A Survey has revealed that two-thirds of adults blame texting for their poor spelling! Predictive text which automatically spell words means people struggle!

And the 2 words 40% of people have the most problems with? Literacy and appalling!

It's the middle one.

You can usually work out the spelling (if you know the rules) by sounding the words out, but a lot of people don't pronounce words correctly, which leads to a lot of confusion (like 'would of').

Accents dont help though sometimes. As in if i was to go to, say, Newcastle, the Geordies wouldnt be able to understand some of the things i say.

I learnt this when I was a nipper by being made to stand up in front of the class and spell it out 10 times.

It was punishment for misspelling it thrice in a story I wrote.

The teacher was a right strict git.

Poor you.. It was always maths I had to stand up in front of the class for (on days when I wasn't literally thrown out the door!). HA.

I always remember it as 'one colar, two socks are necessary to get dressed'. Hence one c and two s'.

At first school we learned how to spell "because" as baby elephant cried and upset sister elephant" and now whenever I write "because" I always think of elephants even though I can spell because without remembering/recalling the little ditty!
