How do you have an anthropomorphic chocolate gorilla?

The wikipedia and spell check statement also applies to You Tube. Just general searching on the net I can't be bothered to do. I remember the advert but not so much that I want to inflict it on others. If someone else wants to though then they're welcome.

I'm just generally lazy.

But very skinny, go figure?

I've decided I absolutely loathe the Phones 4 U adverts. All of them.

Those ones with the hippies were the worst. They also encourage text speak in the name of their company, so clearly they are a bad company anyway.

Was it Phones For You (I'm do the proper version) that had Ed Byrne doing voiceover at one point?

i understand why

*holds hands up to his ear and mouth in classic "on the phone" mode*
*holds up four fingers*
*holds up pinky and index finger with the rest of fist clenched in a "U" mode*

I find the Cadbury's adverts a bit too pretentious, to be honest.

I'd say that the fact it's being discussed on here (and probably a multitude of other forums and mediums) means job done by the Cadbury's marketing department. As with the gorilla ad, to be fair.

I think adverts in general are telling us less and less about the product they're supposed to be promoting.. take the Ford advert where they're using the car parts as "instruments" (which is getting irritating beyond belief) - what does it say about the car?

They say that the new Ford Focus is beautifully arranged.

I, for one, totally agree with them.

That's if you believe that 'all publicity is good publicity'. I don't believe that saying for one minute - just ask Michael Jackson.

Is that is in CAR-cophany? (I've been listening to Dave's bits on the podcasts too much)

Can't stand the Ford Ad, it trying to be too much like a Honda Ad.

I DO like the Coke ad that's like Grand Theft Auto.

I understand the concept of adverts which don't so much tell you anything about the product, but fix the image and name in your mind - I'm sure that happens. What I'm not so sure about though is that having the image and name stuck in your mind actually makes you go out and BUY it. And I'm sure that I am not the only person for whom such advertising tends to have a negative effect - I am far more likely to watch an ad and decide, based on that, that I will absolutely never ever buy that product even if it is the absolute best thing in the world ever.

All that being said, if you look at the revenues in the advertising industry, you have to conclude that these ads actually Do work. I just don't see how.

I'm sure, but I didn't actually remember that bit. I just remembered it was a Ford advert (at a push, I may have guessed at Focus.)

I tend to agree, but I hardly think that the gorilla or the truck ad is going to do them as much harm as Michael Jackson's child abuse court cases. In fact, as Yudwuk says, they work.
