He's done presenting before though, and it's not like he doesn't know how to work a desk or is afraid to talk on air.

Aled could be good, but i think he can become flustered quite easily

He likes to push back onto Chris(not a gay pun) if the going gets tough on him

I understand that but i just don't think he has presenting quality. When he took over The Chris Moyles Show for an hour it was cringeworthy and that is what made it funny but i couldn't put up with him as a presenter on a weekly basis.

It would be horrific, I don't find him entertaining at all, and he tries way too hard.

Thank God you don't run Radio 1.

How the heck would you know what I'd be like as a presenter? I didn't until we did a pilot. I'm glad those that run Radio 1 and make those kind of decisions full time thought it fair to actually HEAR me before making judgements like that.

I'm glad you noticed it was funny - I'm sure that was a pure coincidence on a show that's based on humour. I'm sure my cringeworthy style is the exact style I'd employ on a show dedicated to people's problems!

Your avatar says it all. I'm not really on the show for you.

OK now I know you're all gonna accuse me of licking Aleds arse here but I think that this show really is his sort of thing. I think he sounds great on air and has got much more confident while Rachel has been away - let's face it (sorry Bruvva) but when did we last have a spell of shows where Aled wasn't the main producer?

Remember the Surgery is NOT a breakfast show, it requires a different pace and emotional commitment.

I am not licking your arse Aled but I think you'll be fabulous! Hope I'm home in time to hear it, if not it'd better be on "listen again"!

It's a totally different venue. And I've always seen the surgery as sort of a sensitive show, at least in terms of the problems being handled, to that end, Aled has always struck me as that type of person (sensitive to others) and thus I think he'd be ideal. Again to re-iterate what others have said, it's not the Breakfast Show.

The Surgery isn't on the air for comedic value and broadcasting isn't something that Aled just fell into. I'm fairly certain Radio 1 knows what they're doing by allowing him to present.

I see no one has wished him luck yet...Good luck, Aled.

Aled i don't dislike you, i have said before on these boards i really do like you. You have to admit you need to prove yourself to listeners and a lot of listeners will have doubts about you before you have even started. It is no good having a bitch fit, prove me and others wrong and make us eat our words. You will have a much better time gloating then having a tantrum.

Cat, why should he have to prove you wrong? Surely you should give him a chance - if you like him - before you have a go at him? I don't think Aled had a tantrum, he was just making a very valid point.

I also don't think you'll ever eat your words. Once you've said something it seems to be gospel as far as you're concerned.

Everybody has doubts about people when they start something new and they will get positive, negative or nuetral feed back. I am kind of negative about this right now, so what? If 6/7 out of 9 people really like this idea why should the couple of negative things matter?

You can only give feedback once you've heard something. How can you feedback on something you have not experienced? Give him a fair chance and then feed back! Don't start by saying someone shouldn't be doing it!

I find it amazing that Aled actually gets bad comments here! I think he'd be alright - from what I've heard on the show, he has plenty of relationship experience!

I think he'll do well. Let's face it, he can't be any worse than Kelly; but even compared to Kelly's predecessors, he'll hold his own I reckon.

Smashing! :-) He'll be really sensitive to people with problems.
