The place where everyone hangs out, chats, gossips, and argues

I think Greg deserves a mention. The way he turned up at short notice to do a highly professional broadcast last night then on again at 4 today shows what talent he's got.Someone apparentely told him he'd be doing the breakfast show in 5 or 6 years time when Moyles retires and I wouldnt bet against it.Considering he wa s only at uni a few moonths ago he does a bleedin good show.

ps I didnt just post this as an excuse to reach my 100th post

Once again, the word "genius" is used far to frequently on people who simply shouldn't be called a genius these days.

Personally I don't think you could even call him "good", but that's a matter of opinion and I know that strictly speaking, whether he's a "genius" is also subjective, but I think you'd be hard-pushed to find anyone to agree.

wouldn't class him as a genius. he's good. but he's a good bit behind moyles. i'd rather see chappers n dave do breakfast before him 8O

I rate Greg quite highly, i much prefer him to JK & Joel on early breakfast. I can see him doing the breakfast show in years to come. The only thing that lets him down is that he can be a bit too like Moyles and Mills at times, but in general i think he is very good at what he does.

I think JK and Joel should have gone to Mills' slot.

I think Greg is a good DJ, but there's quite a while to go before he gets the breakfast slot. It'll probably go to Scott Mills when Chris is done.

I don't think Scott will ever have the breakfast show permanently. And so far I can't stand Greg James, but I think its probably because he seems to be basing his style and his show firmly on that of Scott Mills, which lets face it is never going to go down well with me! I noticed yesterday and today though that they seem to have decided to do a much more chatty handover between Greg and the Moyles team than has been done previously, it will be good to see how that develops and hopefully it will help Greg to relax into his own style and not simply try to copy Mills,or anyone else come to that. I keep forgetting how young he is, I shouldn't be so critical. Maybe.

The day Scott Mills gets the Breakfast Show is the day I stop listening to Radio 1 altogether. Moyles is practically the only thing I listen to these days as it is. I gave Scott's show one last try when Moyles was on holiday, and never again.

Regarding the Greg James chats, that's starting to become a more regular feature in the first half hour, and in my view works quite well. They've established a good veteran / newboy characterisation and Greg is now starting to join in the producer Neal (Neil?) mickey-taking. All in all I like it.

Greg is hardly a genius, although I do regard him as a one to look out for in the future. If he keeps going as he had done in recent months, he'll be around for a while to come.

Well done to him though. Radio Station's are increasingly regarding Student Radio / Community Radio as a good source of talent. Greg was fortunate enough to win at the Student Radio Awards and was noticed from then on.

Have you slept with him yet Adam ?

This thread got a mention this morning, without the obligatory " they are all really horrid on there" Which was nice.

I am still not enjoying Greg as much as I would like to, Iain S. I still find him quite amateurish to date. That said, he does read out my texts, so I guess that makes him OK after all. :D

Yeah he was quite positive about us this morning. He was even surprised that we hadn't made a thread criticising 'ramble'.

What makes a radio genius though? Are Chris Moyles & Scott Mills genius' - if so, why? He (Greg) has got all the markings to become a genius and must put a great deal of effort into his show, its just being on at his time is wasted! We'll see him put on more socially acceptable radio time in the future! haha.

Morning Adam. Radio genius = someone who can engage the listeners, someone who you simply just don't want to miss. Someone who has a number of interesting things to say as well as a vast knowledge of music. :-)

It is a good when when used correctly. Which you don't. Except in your opinion, which we all know is the only one which counts because you have told us that so many times.

It's one of those words that has lost its meaning through overuse.
