ITV presenter John Leslie was today named on live Claim - Ulrika Jonssontelevision as the man who allegedly raped Ulrika Jonsson.

Mr Leslie, 37, was inadvertently named on five, formerly Channel 5, by Matthew Wright as he reviewed the papers on his morning show, The Wright Stuff.

The former Blue Peter presenter was in a studio preparing for his own show, This Morning, when the comment was made.

His agent declined to comment on the claim.

Jonsson did not name her attacker in her autobiography Honest, in which she alleges she was raped by a personality.

She has repeatedly refused to identify him.

The man who Jonsson claims attacked her has reportedly denied the allegations.

Wright's gaffe came during a discussion over today's newspapers on his television show.

Broadcaster and journalist Vivienne Parry said two other women had made complaints against the same man and had gone to PR guru Max Clifford.

Wright responded: "Of the three women who have pointed the finger at John Leslie, one of them has a book out - £16.99 in all good bookshops - and the other two have gone to the highest-profile publicist around."

Clifford appeared shortly afterwards on the programme to be interviewed on the Jonsson affair.

Clifford has said he spoke to the alleged rapist after being contacted for advice, as well as at least one other woman claiming she was sexually assaulted by him.

The Wright Stuff is watched by an average of 200,000 viewers each morning.

A spokeswoman for Five said: "It was never the intention of the Wright Stuff to name anyone in connection with this story."

Meanwhile a woman has made a formal allegation that she was attacked.

The 30-year-old woman is understood to have come forward after seeing Jonsson talking about the allegation on television.

She was interviewed by detectives for several hours and they are now investigating her claim.

A City of London Police spokesman said: "A woman came in and made an allegation of rape. Obviously, we are investigating."
