This is a thread dedicated to those people in our lives who are blessed with the ability of generating a 'warm aura' quality around them, the kind of person who is so bubbly and full of life that even saying hello to them in the morning cheers you up. Now I don't mean an Aura in a 'Viv' kind of way, some kind of spiritual occurrence, but more an aspect of their personality that can't help but instantly change peoples moods around her.

Our secretary is one of those, her name is Jude and she is a mum of two bouncing baby boys, and she is so full of warmth and happiness we call her 'The Office Sunshine'. She has the smile and giggle that is so contagious you can come into work on a miserable rainy monday morning after having to change a tyre on the side of the motorway after leaving home on a big row with your other half, walk into the office and her 'Goood Morning' will instantly infect you with a glow, and things are already starting to look up.

Then there are the Vampires in the world. Yes, they exist, yes they walk among us and i bet everyone who reads this knows one.
No, they don't drink blood or turn into bats or have an allergy to garlic and crosses. They have a 'personality trait' completely the opposite to Radiators, they seem to 'suck' an atmospheric quality out of the room, whether it be the relaxed atmosphere, the concentration levels or just the general good mood.
Some people can walk into a room in such a way that it seems to change the mood of the room instantly, whether they bring in an intensity that wasn't there before, or an aggressiveness that brings a 'chill' to the room.

A vampire could also be the guy who, 'holds court' in the pub, who speaks at a whole group of people at the same time about how he got pissed thee night before and how he's never drink again while necking his third bottle of bud...

I find the whole concept of radiators and vampires really fascinating. Its the kind of thing you never really put a name to, but when you think of it you can put several names to the concept.

Sooo
Are there anybody here on the forums or out there in real life you'd class as a Vampire/Radiator?
What do you think of the concept? Do you agree with it?
Is this my longest ever post? You decide....

I agree... ALTHOUGH, if i'm in a bad mood sometimes, and someone goes "GOOOOOD MORNING" to me - it'll usually get answered with a grunt or something. I don't know why - it just happens, I just like to sit in my own bubble when I'm in a bad mood, but apart from those times; those bubbly people do make you a feel bit warmer and alot happier - there is this one woman in my street, and although she seems to have a very strange love for obscure garden decorations, she has the nicest smile and an extremely warm irish accent that makes you feel really cozy when you're feeling low.
Vampire-wise, there is this one group of hyenas, who look like something from the film clueless in my office who even though they range from the age of 25 upwards, they always have the need to enter the office and act like a bunch of school kids screeching and laughing at decibels only dogs can hear and they also generally lower the office tone within 5 minutes with some story about their "weekend wiv sum fit guy at club sh*t" which they need to project across the office at all times...

I'm glad I got that off my chest! Cheers Zoot!

I think we should have a thread called "Today... The person I shall be mainly calling a <insert insult here> is..." and the opposite for someone who's made someones day.

My friend Mary is a radiator. I can't explain what she does - well maybe she actually doesn't DO anything, its just that her reality has been full of such dreadful shit simply being with her puts all your "problems" in perspective. But she manages to do it for people who don't even know what's she's dealt with, so it must be more than that.

She moved to Dorset a bit back, and I miss her and her family a lot. Still, seeing as how she still doesn't think she needs a computer in her life (when she was really ill she asked if she could have my old laptop - then used it to register and post on UM for a while, so if thats all she wants to do I have to agree with her), she is the only person I regularly get proper written letters from, and that is always nice.

Vampires - one person at work might fall in to that category. She is someone who is always trying to manipulate people, circumstances and situations to her own advantage and the detriment of others, and that mind-set just seems to emanate from her. Thankfully she isn't one of my staff because I wouldn't want to have to deal with her professionally, its hard enough being in the same room as her at coffee break.

When I was in Nottingham there was a little cafe I used to go to really early in the morning and the guy who always worked there (just him, always him, he never seemed to have staff or a day off) was the most happy and cheerful guy. Always put a smile on my face no matter how much I hated mornings.

Actually the guy in the WH Smiths in Richmond station is like that too. Always happy and "up". It makes a big difference to my day first thing in the morning.

Yes, the question that I certainly don't want asked or answered is "which are you"??

There's a woman at church, Vicki, who's kind of like my other mum, as in she's always there for me. She's like a radiator. I can't help but be happy around her. She always seems so happy, and full of joy and kindness.

Vampires - I don't think there is anyone I know who's like that. My ex tends to put me in a bad mood when he does speak to me. So maybe him.

99% of the time I like to think of myself as a Radiator. I don't really like vampires at all - they scare me - so I hope I'm not one but I guess we are all that way sometimes

I don't think I'm either. I rarely have the ability to change people's feelings, emotions or opinions.

You'd be surprised Toph, I bet you brighten someone's day up and, not ruin, but you know what i mean, someone else's. Everyone does.

The Stewardess in my local is definately a radiator! Even if your having the worst day imaginable, she can cheer you up with her smile and friendly voice!

Let's just say no-one cares about Viv's opinion.

My local 'radiator' has to be my band mate, he's so light hearted and just generally fun that everyone loves being aroud him. He can help confront problems, or take your mind off them for a short while to have a bit of fun (no sex involved) and just make you feel better. He's a legend, and Foots fancies him.

Not really... I was just curious as to why I was "half ok". Ah well...
