I'm not going soft, but sometimes I like these heartwarming stories, and this one truly is amazing. Enjoy.....

In 1986, Dan Harrison was on holiday in Kenya after graduating from Northwestern University .

On a hike through the bush, he came across a young bull elephant standing with one leg raised in the air. The elephant seemed distressed, so Dan approached it very carefully.

He got down on one knee and inspected the elephant's foot and found a large piece of wood deeply embedded in it.

As carefully and as gently as he could, Dan worked the wood out with his hunting knife, after which the elephant gingerly put down its foot.

The elephant turned to face the man, and with a rather curious look on its face, stared at him for several tense moments.

Dan stood frozen, thinking of nothing else but being trampled. Eventually the elephant trumpeted loudly, turned, and walked away.

Dan never forgot that elephant or the events of that day.

Twenty years later, Dan was walking through the Chicago Zoo with his teenaged son.

As they approached the elephant enclosure, one of the creatures turned and walked over to near where Dan and his son Dan Jr. were standing.

The large bull elephant stared at Dan, lifted its front foot off the ground, and then put it down. The elephant did that several times then trumpeted loudly, all the while staring at the man.

Remembering the encounter in 1986, Dan couldn't help wondering if this was the same elephant.

Dan summoned up his courage, climbed over the railing and made his way into the enclosure. He walked right up to the elephant and stared back in wonder. The elephant trumpeted again, wrapped its trunk around one of Dan's legs and slammed him against the railing, killing him instantly.

Probably wasn't the same elephant.

I haven't read the above, but this is another heart warming story: -

A man walked into a butchers shop, bought a pig heart. He took this home and placed it in the oven. While he prepared a salad to go with it, the heart slowly heated up. After a few minutes, he took out the now warmed-through heart from the oven and ate it along with his salad.

Here's another one: a woman walked into a shop, and saw some a ginger biscuit. She quickly stuffed it into her mouth, only to hear fireworks going off behind her, and shouts of glee ---- she had just got rid of Console.

To be fair, if there ever was a thread to hijack for something shit, it should be one that is already shit, such as this one.

No, indeed. I always have gaps of being on the Internet, at least 1 day+ at a time. And, if you open your eyes, you will see there are 2 new topics I have created: one for music, one for miscellaneous.

This is true. Its no secret that Viv and I don't always get on and sometimes she annoys and frustrates me beyond all sense and reason (feel free to assert that its mutual Viv....),but in those days when she isn't here I always find myself thinking "where's Viv?"!

See, there's no pleasing me.

Was the thread needed.. probably not.

Was it a funny story... yes actually, I laughed anyways.

As someone said - I dunno what the beef is with Viv and Console but I do know that if it was anyone else then threads would be getting closed and people cautioned. The two of you - quit griping at each other in public.

People. As opposed to person.
