Nope, no rocks, that'd hurt.

Well done Portsmouth. What a terrible game though - I found myself praying that Cardiff wouldn't equalise just so we didn't have to sit through another half an hour of it. FInals are often like that I suppose, but oh dear both teams looked poor!

Shut up it was an action packed game full of drama and shots and controversy. Ok the goal was sloppy but the missed chance, Cardiff's equaliser that was disallowed. The tension was horrible though. I was nearly in tears when I saw them engraving our name on it!

Yudster wrote:I don't want Cardiff to win because if they do, the FA have said they can take the cup-winners place in the UEFA Cup. When Cardiff were first allowed to compete in the FA Cup one of the conditions Cardiff agreed to was that they wouldn't be entitled to UEFA Cup consideration, because UEFA has separate arrangements with the Welsh FA regarding qualification. So basically if Cardiff win, they take the UEFA place which they already agreed they weren't entitled to at the expense of an English club.

AnotherFA-U-turnbactracking-tastic.

I was in a conversation about this today, apparently UEFA made the FA backtrack because they said it was against the rules or something?

Anyway... I don't understand why Cardiff, Swansea and Wrexham (are there any more?) are in the English league system. If it were a British league, fair enough, but it's not. That may be a whole other debate, but if someone could shed any light on this for me (other than the utterly shit excuse of "because they'd be far too good for the Welsh league"), I'd appreciate it?

I'd like to know why there were so few British players in the final anyway! Maybe that should be addressed before people start turfing out 2 Welsh teams?

I can see the point of that argument as well - but that really is a totally different debate. My point is that the rule seems to apply for everyone except those few teams. If the answer were to be to merge and make it a British league, so be it; likewise, if they want it to be an English league, surely teams not in England should play in their own countries' leagues?

It also happens in cricket - Glamorgan plays in the English league. It's just one of those things, presumably the FA gets something out of it.

No, totally different, the FA covers England only whereas the ECB covers England and Wales so Glamorgan isn't as anomalous as it looks (from a cricketing point of view anyway). As for the 3 welsh clubs in the english league structure, I think it's a historical thing more than anything.

I thought it was UEFA who negotiated the condition? To be honest, my thought was that the UEFA Cup place is dependant on winning the FA Cup. If Cardiff are entitled to win the FA Cup I can't see why they shouldn't benefit from the full package of rewards associated with it. Whether or not Cardiff SHOULD be entitled is a whole other argument - but as Bruvva said, it seems to be a historical thing and for goodness sake, what harm does it do?!!

Well, based on what you did on Saturday the Championship is a good level for you, so why not??

I hate penalties! It's a stupid way to resolve a game. I always feel sorry for the goalies. See this is why I prefer rugby!

Hahahaha Chelsea have less silverware than Portsmouth!

I'm so glad Ronaldo missed his penalty and all what with stopping his run half way and all. I'd love to just hold his face against a belt sander for half an hour the smug self righteous egotistical git!

How can anyone like someone when they're like that?

I still prefer him to Didier Drogba. Drogba is an egotistical, cheating, self-righteous pompous *. I was so glad he got sent off. He didn't deserve to win at all.

Can I borrow that sander, Andy?

John Terry is very amusing to me. I wish I didn't have to be in a meeting during the last half, but apparently the students almost rioted in the library.
