Why?

It always rains, and nothing ever really shuts anymore.

Why two in May, none till August, and then wait till Christmas. Why two at Easter ? which is always around March April time. It's all wrong.

Why not 4 at Christmas and new year ( 2 for each) the every Monday in August. That way you have best chance of some sun, and also in the Holidays you get 4 days legitimately off to look after the sprogs. With 12 million dependent children that works out as a saving to the country of 42.8 Billion Lire a year.

Or something else ?

What do you think?

Also what was that crap on Radio one this morning, I tuned it at 6.40 expecting the tale end of the initial chat, and got some Gangster shouting about dance music. Why ? Tried again at 8 and it was still boom boom boom, shake the room. What on earth are they thinking putting this sort of marginal shite on, it was like going back 15 years when Radio One was not listenable too again. Who ever scheduled this show should be sacked, and it's enough of a reason to Ban all Bank Holidays in any event for fear of this rubbish being repeated.

It hasn't rained here so far.

I agree about the bank holiday drought during June and July, it turns the August bank holiday into gold dust.

Maybe.

Pete Tong, leading on from Zane Lowe's successful stint a while back. "Get the juice" I didn't listen to it, as it was a bit specialist, whereas with Zane Lowe you had a good cross section of music, and I like Zane Lowe which helps.

Chris Moyles never works bank holidays. I don't think a bit of experimentation for one day (until August, as you point out) is too much to bear. He'll be back tomorrow. :)

Would you rather have Scott Mills, or, God forbid, Nihal?!

Well in that case, this thread should've been called 'It's all Gone Pete Tong'. I like that film.

Chucking it down here also.
I only listen to chris moyles on the school run and then through the podcasts anyway, so him being lazy and in bed on a bank holiday doesnt bother me.

Its raining and shit here. However as I plan to spend my day revising, or avoiding revision, the weather doesn't bother me too much.

Ok I agree with you on that, as it happens I had a good couple of hours of the Mark Ronson Album whilst Spring Cleaning the kitchen so it was all lovely.

It's blowing a gale and raining cats and frogs here.

And here. Horrible. I think add one more on to the total of bank holidays in the year, then just let everyone add that number on to their annual leave so they can take them whenever they want. Then they would actually have value as holidays.

Avoiding revision is great - you develope this strange passion for things you usually hate, like an excessive need to tidy your room or watching coutdown, or in my case spending 6hrs a day on youtube (but thats not something i hate)
My exams are done now though, hoorah.

Quite probably.

I thought about getting the time stamped on it, but I didn't really care that much.

Avoiding revision is great.

So far I've watched Shrek 3, Hairspray and might watch Stardust next. I am attempting to work at the same time, but its failing.

It's not raining here, but it is excessively windy.

I agree about bank holidays really. Nothing does shut (do banks even now?) and thus so many people must have to work that it negates the concept. I'm contracted to work them, but a colleague does them for me as her other half works with us too and is also contracted to work them, so they may as well both be there. I would get a day in lieu for them, but I'm not too bothered about that. I also agree that the placement of them is bizarre - if we have to have them, they could be more evenly spread through the year. One in october or early november would be ideal.

I've been at work ALL DAY! We now have to open from 9-5.30. I don't mind tremendously but what I do object to are the people who come shopping and say "Isn't it a shame you have to work on a bank holiday?" If they didn't shop I wouldn't have to be there!

Oh and Nicola, yes the banks do shut! Which has annoyed a lot of my customers even when I pointed out that it was called a "BANK holiday".
