I've been reading about that with a mixture of disgust and intrigue. Those poor kids, not to mention poor Elisabeth. I'd love to study criminology.

No, I noticed there was one out, but I've not had the chance to get it yet.

OK.. simply because they're brilliant (I believe) for all ages, I would have:

The Witches
George's Marvellous Medicine
Fantastic Mr Fox
The Vicar of Nibbleswicke
Esio Trot
The BFG
James and the Giant Peach
Danny, the Champion of the World
The Twits
Matilda

Well, since I read all those as a kid, I didn't really read anything else until I got into my true crime.. so not really. I have started on the Discworld books, as you know, which is quite good.

A couple of books i like, which aren't classics or adventures or murders, are

The Snapper - Roddy Doyle
Since I Don't Have You - Louise Candlish

For the desert though i think i would take Penny Vincenzi - Something Dangerous because it is one long ass book.

I've never read The Snapper Cat. Only Roddy Doyle I've read is A Star Called Henry that's great.

Nice choices!
