Woolworths are stopping the CD singles! From August this year, they will all be binned! Oh no.

What do you think of this?

I download my music or buy the albums so I don't really mind. Do people still buy singles?

It was only ever a matter of time. Sales of CD singles are at an all time low, and CD albums are dropping. The way people buy music has changed and it won't change back.

Me. Learning how to download is on my list of things to achieve during 2008.

Play.com... I have written this down. I normally get albums from TESCO.

cd-wow.com is another one which is pretty good but their selection isn't as wide.

The reason play.com is cheaper is because they are internet based and head office is located in Jersey I believe

By being on the internet you technically have already downloaded. Downloading songs (legally) is simply putting in your payment details in return for a link to download (depending on which service you use).

I haven't bought a single for years. I tend to download albums and if I like it I'll buy it.

Yeh, but I would have to download to an MP3 player, which I gave away to Charla. I may get another one, and learn stuff.

When buying anything (absolutely anything) online... don't forget to use Quidco! You'll get free cashback with every order. It's fab! I've just got my May payment in my paypal account yesterday for £25! Thank you HMV, Play.com, Interflora and Game!

Really? I tend to check quidco before anything, especially for deals that don't include paying for anything. Mrs RB has just signed up to a monthly film company (like lovefilm.com) and the deal was something on the lines of: Sign up, order some DVDs, get them, watch them, send them back, cancel, and we'll give you £10 for it" No spending involved whatsoever. Where as I think lovefilm caught onto that and they've done the same deal except they have to charge you first before you get your cashback, which is still good as the cheapest deal is £9.99 a month for 1 DVD per week and the cash back is £15. So you gain a fiver.

I've previously done my insurance through quidco, which is quite nice when you've paid 100 and something pounds on the deposit and the cashback percentage is 10%, I've done holidays, random shopping, etc. I think it's quite good. It's a shame you've only ever got £6 from them though.

You have to go to the quidco website and use their link to play.com before buying stuff. Going through the quidco site sets a cookie in your browser that play.com uses to give a referral fee to quidco.

Right, I've just visited quidco (investigating), and went from there to an Avon Shop. However, I see no ability to use Paypal, as you have stated... would you get cashback anyway?

When you use the Quidco site to go to shops and buy something, Quidco get a referral fee (usually a percentage of the purchase price), and they pass this back to the customer (after a yearly £5 admin fee). The shops themselves don't necessarily use paypal, but Quidco can deposit the money they get back into a paypal account, or a bank account, for you - it doesn't matter how you pay the shops as long as you go through a logged in quidco account.

Fantastico!!!! I will join at some point from another computer. This library one prevents the ability to join quidco.
