What are the loveliest/most inspirational lyrics you have noticed in a song?

On Saturday, I borrowed an album by Katie Melua, and spotted these beautiful lyrics:-

I think my Favourite lyric is from the Alice Cooper song 'I might as well be on Mars', about a man standing on a roof watching his ex on a date in a restaurant across the street. The lyric is -

Maybe I should try...

Great topic Viv. And I like Katie Melua too, even when she is plagiarising William Blake. She has good taste, if you're going to pinch imagery then pinch it from the best!

Pretty much my favourite song is Bridge Over Troubled Waters - all the lyric is beautiful, but the last verse is especially so.

It sends shivers down my spine just reading it.

Everlong is a cracking song - especially when they play it live.

Yea, the acoustic version is better in my opinion, but that doesn't mean i don't like the original

It doesn't matter whether it's the full band, rock out version, or the Dave solo version, where the band joins in later. Everlong gives me back shivers every time.

Most of the Foo Fighters gigs I have been to they play a bit of both. Dave Grohl plays the acoustic version on his own on the walkway which parts the crowd - then he runs back and the whole band play full pelt.

I didn't go to Hyde Park, due to lack of funds. I would have loved to see them with Motorhead and QOTSA though. It looked like a great gig from the DVD.

I've seen them 6 times to date. Which other places have you seen them Tial?
