Okay .. repeated calls have been made for the removal of Iain Smith on the grounds of being annoying to a vast amount of people with his "sources" (usually wrong) and dead people (usually common knowledge, or people not of general concern).

What fairer way to decide than to vote? It's your community, so you have a say.

Feel free to respond to the thread with your views - I would encourage everyone to read and consider the posts here before casting your vote, you may learn about the positive and negative consequences of the eventual outcome.

He is just so annoying, I dont think he adds anything to the forum, if its important enough for us to care then it will get posted, but the random stuff he comes out with and the numerous new threads that nobody cares about is fine.

If he kept it all in one place then people could choose to ignore it, I say the he should be banned, but i will wait and see if anyone puts up a good argument for him staying before i vote

p.s. love you Fidel Christo

The occasional forays that you have into democratic running amuse me somewhat!

Question.. has he been warned about his behaviour and his posting? I'd imagine he has, but I was just wondering. Also, would it be beneficial to suspend him like Viv has been in the past for a period of time to see if that improves things?

I do find him irritating, but banning (as in a permanent ban) is quite an extreme response.

I'm not sure I want him banned, he's one of those eccentric characters who amuse me, but saying that, he is damn annoying.

You see he hasn't technically done anything wrong except be incredibly annoying to some people. Personally I find him easy to ignore and utterly irrelevant - but others may not share my view, hence the vote.

If he annoyed me, then I'd ban him just for that. As I'm always fond of saying, it isn't a democracy. Except when I decide that it is (and so isn't).

[edit] oh .. but making a big scene about leaving and then coming back about five minutes later was almost bannable.

That would have been hilarious.

YES - for the love of almighty COD BAN HIM - I have OCD and can't leave until every orange thingy has turned grey so I can't help but read his threads and I KNOW I should just ignore him but I can't. He infuriates me sooooo much. I'm sure I've got high blood pressure as a result.

You are aware you can just mark the forums as being read aren't you?

I think we should all vote 'no' now.

As I said last night, he amuses me. Especially how wound up people seem to get over pretty inane posts.

If he hasn't broken any rules, id love to know why he should be banned. If thats the line we are going down - then yes... we are clique.

Iain is certainly annoying but he's not argumentative, bitter, vicious or a bastard. He's just a harmless twit that gets off on providing "breaking" obituaries. No sense permanently banning him. That said, I found the "Goodbye, I'm leaving" and "Oh, I've changed my mind, I'm staying" bit rather strange and for that I think a temporary suspension on the grounds of "Grandiose and Dramatic Gestures Gone Awry" wouldn't be out of place. A stern Chris warning and wrist slap ought to do the trick, Tsar Harris.

He IS damn annoying, his constant repetitive posting style reeks of arrogance to me, and he doesn't add anything constructive at all to the forums. However, his posts have led to some of the funniest responses on the entire boards, so i say 'Don't ban'.

The fact that him getting a positive response will annoy the haters makes me laugh.

I agree with the non-banning. Until he actually breaks rules, why get like this?

of course not, don't ban him otherwise we'll just end up with a very cliquey forum and that would be rubbish.

I'd have said ban him for being an annoying twat who contributes very little to the forum except his usual spammy pish. However, that then begs 2 questions;

1 - has he actually broken any rules?
2 - if he goes, why the * is Zenon still here?

I've voted no. We have no reason for him to be banned.

Although Iain Smith's 'MEMBER OF ABBA FOUND DEAD WITH SLASHED THROAT' headlines are annoying (although in a way very amusing!), he should not be banned. As mentioned elsewhere in this thread, it is entertaining to read other's reactions to his posts. :)

I'm with the 'no' people as well. I was swaying towards them, but foot-loose and Bruvva are right.. it would become a real clique then, which is not right.

Has everyone forgotten that he's an irritating, lying, tit? He makes stuff up. He posts drivel about which I'd be shocked if anyone cared. Most importantly though this is a Chris Moyles Fan site and from the looks of some of his posts he isn't even a fan! While his posts to a certain degree are informative (and I use that word in the broadest sense possible) he contributes nothing to the Forum.

At least with almost everyone else here they bring personality to the forum, they would be missed if they were gone and most importantly of all they talk about Chris Moyles and the show. It's been stated several
times that this site is very much like the show in that it's not all nicey nicey and that it takes a while to he used to. How long do you think he would last were he a caller on the show? Chris put's the phone down on celebreties when they become dull let alone complete strangers!

I realise that he's not broken any rules but he contributes nothing, he just posts his own thing and then doesn't interact with anyone. Once again he's on a Chris Moyles forum and he doesn't even like Chris Moyles. This isn't the UN we don't have to be nice to people.

I say don't ban him. I love the fact he seems to have rhino skin, as he never bites back to the slagging off he gets! He ploughs on regardless. It's hilarious that some people get so wound up about him-thats what make his posts 'funny'.
