On Tuesday between 8-8.30 Chris said he had some news but was umming and ahhing about saying it because he said the only way to do it was by mentioning something else. He said he may do it after 9 and that's the time I always lose signal as I'm on the underground. When I emerged into daylight they were doing the Charley from Bb thing.

Did he say what it was? If so what was it (can't access listen again at work) and if not does anyone apart from Iain_Smith have any idle speculation?

My best guess is that it was talking about the fact that Charley was presenting with Trevor Nelson on the other side. I remember Rachel saying something along the lines of it'd 'help with one thing but detract from something else' - i'm guessing that's regering to 1Xtra and Radio 1 respectively.
