Hi people, i haven't been on here for a while, though i would make a comeback tour :] This morning i was listening to Chris and i heard Claire, off the apprentice, swear which i thought was a bit out of order considering it's a family show. I know it was a mistake and it wasn't Chris' fault but i think Chris, or one of the team should just give a bit of a warning that swearing is just unacceptable !

What you all think ?

I think that everyone who goes on the show knows that swearing is unacceptable! Sometimes you can draw more attention to it by mentioning it so it may be better to gloss over it! I didn't hear it so I guess it wasn't that noticeable!

They talked about it for maybe 30 seconds, but after swearing on the radio you obliged by law to apologies so it's pretty hard to ' gloss over it ' seamlessly.

The problem is, that if a DJ hears a swearword said by a guest they must immediately apologise for it.

When Ozzy Osbourne swore I didn't hear it, but my attention was drawn to it by Chris apologising.

I didn't hear the interview so will have to listen back now.

I think that I'm not entirely sure what your point is. Are you saying that Chris should warn the listeners that swearing might occur in a live radio show (every day, and presumably more than once a show)? Or are you saying that they should get the guests in early to prep them and inform them of things like the rules on swearing?

How do you think they should do that any more than what they do now?
Welcome back!

The only way to do that would be to pre-record all interviews - is swearing really that much of a problem to bother doing that? How many times have guests sworn in an interview on the show? Three, four times, maybe. Not worth it in my opinion.

I think the contrary. I would LOVE to hear to hear an uncensored Chris Moyles Show...

The shock value of swearing can make certain things funnier, but any overuse would just make it sound bad. Swearing for the sake of swearing isn't funny.

That would be good - reminds me of the 'backwards swearing' clip! How did they get away with that? (And was it on a pre-recorded show?)

Tom, you profess to present live radio yet you seem to know so little about the practicalities of this. Unless there is a second or two delay on transmission it is impossible to make sure guests don't swear! I have sworn on live radio twice in 15 years and they were both accidents. Sometimes things slip out, it's human nature! Grow up!

Well... just more like what would be said in the pub without having to have the 'off the air moments'.

They had clips of themselves swearing (which had been reversed) that they played instead of actually swearing, and they got away with it because they weren't technically airing swearwords. Besides, the very reason they did it at all is because it was already being done in a song they were playing - they knew it was acceptable.

I've heard the Claire's slip up now, but because it was Claire who said it, an apprentice candidate, I didn't even notice it until the team apologised.
