Interesting to hear that Jo Whiley is an ambassador for Mencap (www.mencap.org.uk). Mencap is the leading charity for people with learning disabilities!

According to an interview done with "Glamour" magazine, whose title I have stolen for this topic (!!), Jo has said her proudest moment of the year is organising the "Little Noise Sessions" in aid of Mencap. This is an annual series of acoustic gigs. She has said, "It's like my own mini-Glastonbury!".

Jo is Glamour's Radio Personality of the Year. She was also the personality in 2004 and 2005. Well done!!

I think one of her children has learning difficulties, though I could be wrong.

Is that right? That would make sense as to why she has become involved in the Charity.

It's a very good cause. I hope she raises it's profile.

I take it this is one of your "jokes", because it's French, and is translating as "shout of the cat"????

I shall google it, and investigate.

You're right enough. There is a site for it.

Cri Du Chat Syndrome Support Group wrote:Cri Du Chat Syndrome is an abnormality resulting in the deletion of part of the short arm of chromosome 5. Sometimes this syndrome is called "Cat Cry Syndrome" or "5p-"

Wikipedia | Cri du chat wrote:Cri du Chat syndrome or Cri-du-Chat syndrome (French for Cry or call of the cat referring to the specific cry of the child), also called deletion 5p syndrome, 5p minus or Lejeune’s syndrome, is a rare genetic disorder due to a missing portion of chromosome 5. It was first described by Jérôme Lejeune in 1963. The condition affects an estimated 1 in 20,000 to 50,000 live births. The disorder is found in people of all ethnic backgrounds and is more common in females by a 3-1 ratio.

May have been worth a google before making the comment Viv, but a very strange name none the less for a genetic birth defect.
