The show today (18 Jun) has generated some strong feelings amongst listeners due to the obvious shift toward 'more music' and less chat.

Isn't chat what we tune in for? Isn't it the format that has created the ratings success that the show is today? Do you prefer a formulaic show with regular breaks for music? Make your feelings known - join in the discussion here.

Another topic about the same thing!!

I tune in for chat & music personally; I don't like these rigid, daft numbers being put in front of tunes though.

I agree with Viv - I want the show to sound natural and not formulaic. Dictating how many songs are played and when ruins the enjoyment because it forces the show to conform to a proscribed format. Not conforming to a format is precisely what is good about Moyles show.

I don't think Chris so much meant to start a new discussion here to be honest - I think he was merely trying to point out that there is already a discussion going on and so directing people to it.

Indeed. Is Sara Cox coming back in any capacity? I like her. Viv will know, Viv, is Coxy coming back?

I hope so. I like Coxy too, she is another DJ that makes me feel like I'm down the pub or in her living room having a natter.

Let's hope she doesn't call you on that one!

Wasn't this just Moyles being facetious about this? Sounds to me as though he and the team in general were given a bollocking about not playing enough music (probably spiked by the massive chat with Richard Hammond and James May) and this is him making a point of hitting every single target. I don't think it's a sign of things to come.

I do think that today's shenanigens were probably a somewhat childish response to being asked to be a bit more careful with the minimum music requirements and the timings. But Chris Moyles is sensitive about his show and this is just him leaping to it's defence I'm sure.

It is slightly childish, but then he has added so many listeners, he has probably felt he has a very strong purpose in what he did.

We have issued a resounding "NO" to the bosses and they have been proved wrong on this debate.. Perhaps this silly ongoing battle with the "Music Dept Upstairs" or Piers or Ben or whoever can finally come to a head and we can carry on enjoying the show without constant meddling around, I am sure Chris knows which side his bread is buttered but at the same time wants independence.

Didn't realise this was the one to post in... (copy and paste job)

I totally agree with Rusty, today's show sucked. I listen to the show because it's balance of music and chat swings in the other direction to what every other show, or indeed station, does. The show is funny, totally random, with no set sequence or timing.

Let's be honest, the show is the success it is because of the above mentioned things, changing it would make it a carbon copy of every other show on commercial radio, with the same records being played as the show before, just in a different order. It's poor, it's boring, and too dam predictable.

Before Chris took over the morning show, the rating's were absolute crap, he came along, doing what he does now, and it has worked wonders, Radio 1 should be thanking him for that, not telling him how to run his show, and turning it into a boring, crap, and dull song fest, with a playlist of, let's be honest, tracks that are rammed down our ears day in day out that we are told are good, and 90% of the time, they aren't! If the bosses want to hear more music, tell them to listen to another station that has worse ratings, and mundane radio hosts, and a breakfast show set up that loses out to The Chris Moyles show day in day out.

More chat, fun and banter, less of the predictable, boring, and dam right annoying structures that every other station and show has to follow, keep it unique!!!!!!! IF IT'S NOT BROKE, DONT FIX IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hello I'm new here. I've been listening to Chris for 3 and a half years now, always from start to finish whilst driving my truck. I was really disappointed with the show today and I'm sure Chris would have been too. It seems like a lot of corporations, that there is kiss arse attitude to the big bosses! Well big bosses of Radio 1 UP YOURS!!!!! Chris has saved your radio station and you should be the ones kissing arse!! Leave him to do what he does best and you get back to doing what you do best which is obviously nothing. I'm angry.

Sat and today are up
