A few years back, she had a couple of operations, one for cancer and one for a hysterectomy so she has had it pretty rough but she never really seemed to notice these set backs. Over the past year, she has had what the vet calls a "fatty lump" sticking out her side. That had been getting bigger and had obviously been causing her some discomfort but the vet assured us she was not in any pain.

Over the last few weeks, she has been quite short of breath but again, nothing major really. Last night she was fine and went for a wander with dad.

This morning, she couldnt move her back legs and was obviously distressed about this. Pretty much as soon as I saw her, I knew what the rest of the day would entail. The vet came about 1030ish and that was that. As he pointed out the last time he saw her - she always had a sorta sparkle about her and that a lot of dogs that had been through what she had would have just given up. She was still wagging her tail when he came in today. He didn't give us a reason for what had happened last night, we figure maybe a stroke.

While I am sad etc, she was probably past her due date and had a good quality of life right till the end. Onwards and upwards.

I think that she would have wanted a signature creating.

Ohhh Foots, I am so sorry. Hollie had been a lovely friend to you for many years and you did the compassionate thing for her. I think Chris's sig is superb and a fitting tribute.

I kinda agree with Viv too, and although I know you don't mean forever, I would never recommend it for a long time. From experience; living with family, in my case at my mums house, can put a massive strain on things. But I also agree with you and Yuds - I'd also never put anyone out on the street either no matter what the situation. (Unless they were a murderer or something I guess...)
