Moyles tries out C4 show
Motormouth DJ Chris Moyles is having yet another stab at becoming a chatshow host.

The laddish Radio 1 star, 34, is to film a pilot episode for what could turn into a Channel 4 series, if received well by channel executives.

It's being described as a celebrity chat/quizshow which will be "exciting, raw and intimate". A chatshow he hosted in 2002 was dropped after 13 weeks.

For a more detailed article go to ITV Teletext page 131.

I think it can be a success if Chris is himself, doesn't try too hard and it is produced by the right people. Not Chris Evans.

I've been sitting here for a little while wondering what on earth to write in response to this - the best I can come up with is that I really really hope it's good.

If its true what they say about him replacing Richard and Judy then I really do hope it is good, when I first read this I thought it was going to be 'primetime all the time', adult humour etc. It won't be hard replacing R&J at teatime though.

It could be the nail in the coffin for his TV career if it's bad; I don't think it'll affect his radio career.

Hopefully it won't be bad though.

I think Chris will be brilliant, its just unfortunate that the viewing public dont appreciate him.

When he did the Paul O'Grady show a couple of months back I thought he was brilliant, but you could tell that he lost the studio audience at times!

His format works well on the radio, lets just hope he can adapt it for TV without pissing off his radio fans and capture the TV audience too(should have posted this about 7 years ago, but better late than never)

I agree with this - my parents and most of my friends seem to think of him as an 'arrogant, abrasive loud-mouth' whilst not actually having listened to his show atall. It's a great shame, Chris seems to have that unfortunate reputation and for that reason I think it'll be cast off before it gets a chance. Hence my view on the matter!

Put him in the right situation - "intimate" - Thats the sort of environment he does well in, his radio studio is as such, and he'll need someone to bounce off, I think it would be great if he proved everyone wrong about being a fish out water once he leaves his radio studio. Presenting Friday Night Project and BBBM took away some of the pressure from him as they wern't his shows. Best of luck to him, good to see that 'Portugese Villa Fund' is still a big priority.

Hmm.....he does always seem awkward when he's on tele. Guess it comes down to if he has editorial control or not. He needs to make the show his own so no-one ele could do it. That's why TFI friday worked so well.

The problem as far as I see it is that Chris is very fond of blowing his own trumpet and the "Great British Public" generally don't like to see that too much.

I can see why people don't like Chris' style but I think they are wrong. I'll watch it anyway of course but I really hope a lot of planning goes into this. I'd hate to see him and Davina have another thing in common other than a love of Big Brother.

I think if he does a chatshow, One night a week would do, every friday against Jonny Ross maybe live???

He'll go straight down the drain if he does weekdays on C4

Yeah a Friday night C4 show would be the most obvious choice. I can't help but think that a daily format alongside the Breakfast show would lead to a slippage in the standard of on-air output.

On the other hand could this be the beginning of Chris preparing his career for life after Radio 1 Breakfast. I could find it hard to envisage Chris moving to a radio show with a smaller amount of listeners/lower profile for instance.

I think friday night would be the best option, but my only concern is that it will turn into that crap chat show like Davina...remember haha, on BBC ONE, but i wouldnt watch it there was Z- list celebs on there, he needs propa celebs to pull in the viewers and great bands etc
