Teletext is reporting that Chris is trying out for Channel 4 to become a chatshow host.

Chris is to film a pilot episode for what could turn into a Channel 4 series, if received well by channel executives. It's being described as a celebrity chat/quizshow which will be "exciting, raw and intimate".

Teletext points helpfully points out that a chatshow he hosted in 2002 was dropped after 13 weeks, some of which you can see on our video page.

Will you be hoping it goes forward? Or will you be hoping Chris sticks at what he is undoubtedly best at? Could it finally be his first mainstream television success? Have your say by clicking the comment/reply link below!

Chris is going to leave Radio 1 within the next 12 months and this is him opening up other opportunities. You can get 20/1, with Ladbrokes, that Chris Moyles will not be with Radio 1after 2009.

You can only find out the odds by contacting Graeme Sharp at Ladbrokes head office in London, he's the guy that deals with specialist bets.

As for doing TV , if he should do anything it should be some sort of travelog show,,that would be funny.

Now, I'm reliably informed by a bookie I know that it's not "odds" it's "price".

He's quite goal-orientated, always wanting to increase his audience, and surely also wanting to achieve the position of longest-running Radio 1 Breakfast Show. He'll surpass Tony Blackburn's record at the beginning of September 2009 and so once he's done that what's left for him to achieve at Radio 1?

Beating Wogan. Not sure it'll happen, but it's something to aim for.

The chance of Moyles to leave Radio 1 after 2009 is as much chance of Dave splitting with Jayne and her and Nicole to go 2 Australia and Dave to Turn gay haha, i fink Moyles will stay at Radio 1 at least till 2011 or more

I think if Wogan is still there doing his show, then what is stopping Moyles from doing his, even in the next couple of years?

The demographic. The example of Tarrant staying too long at Capital could repeat itself with Moyles at Radio 1 if the station isn't targeting enough young listeners, but for as long as The Chris Moyles Show continually aims to attract new teenagers and early twentysomethings then no, there's shouldn't be anything stopping Chris and the team from continuing.
That said, surely they would go out on a high rather than potentially having to go due to falling ratings? If he leaves with the audience wanting more he could successfully take the show elsewhere or move into TV if the format is right.

I've just realised i'm helping turn this thread into something I hate: speculating on if and when Moyles is replaced on breakfast.

Yes, Chris should venture more into TV but only if the radio show doesn't suffer as a result, and only if the format is right, which means he is allowed enough personal creativity to stamp his personality on it, as he's done so successfully on radio.

I think I would rather he just stuck to radio (what he does best)... he's v. awkward on T.V.

That said, he did cover Paul O'Grady well quite recently. :-)

Moyles is a big guy though Viv. Paul O'Grady is quite small in comparison.

Of course he covered him well!

How could you hate that scene? It was the best part of the film "I can still taste your testes in my mouth".

It was funny in a foul way though. I'm not sure how Foot-loose's post would make you look at it in a different way.. it was disgusting as it was.

True. But now I have an image of Chris Moyles and Paul O'Grady instead of the other two.

I reckon that Chris should stick to what he does best. Other radio presenters have tried TV only to crash and burn. When Chris does TV he looks like a fish out of water.
