So, Dalek Caan (that's Caan, not Khan) went back in time, saw the Daleks were a bunch of no good rotters so saved them and brought them to the future so the Doctor could kill them off? Why not leave them to die out in the first place?

The episode hit all the right emotional buttons but you really don't want to think about the plot at all. As for the whole "one will die" thing, it would have been better had it been someone actually dying rather than that rotten cheap trick that was pulled.

That said, it was fun.

As for the regeneration, that hand in a jar's got a role to play here I think, we'll either get multiple Doctors or Tennant will regenerate into himself.

Should have put money on that shouldn't I ?

I watched it last night after the tennis (Sky+ job as I was out on Saturday night). Fantastic episode, but I have to disagree... I thought clever Donna was even more annoying. For a couple of minutes it was funny, but after that she was just grating. As soon as they explained how she worked though I knew she was for the off thanks to the Ood. The Doctor-donna thing and the song coming to an end.

I'm glad Rose got a happier ending too. Although I'm once again going to miss Billie Piper being in it. Still, David Tennant's Doctor continues, hurrah!

Now, what we need is to get Jenny back in it. If I can't have Rose, I'll settle for Jenny.

I thought the song thing was more a reference to the way Ood view life. They seemed to see their existence as songs, and they said they would sing songs of the Doctor-Donna. I think River Song was just a coincidence, but you never know with Doctor Who.

Ok - one question, not that it in any way impaired my enjoyment - why didn't Captain Jack die when the Dalek shot him and how did he get out of the incinerator?

Captain Jack is (essentially) immortal due to the events at the end of the first series, and I presume that he climbed out of the incinerator.

I doubt the Daleks would have expected someone that they thought was dead to climb out of the inferno, so it probably wasn't locked or anything.

It was only really implied that he becomes the Face of Bo, but, despite his immortality, he is ageing, and in a few billions years it is conceivable (possible with external help) that he could morph into what we know as the Face of Bo. That or it's just some interesting back-stepping by Davies.
